Royal Caribbean Opens 2028 Alaska Cruises With Four Ships
Passengers embarking in Seward will use a new terminal developed by Royal Caribbean Group and the Alaska Railroad, with a rail link for inland-stay transfers.
Royal Caribbean has opened bookings for its 2028 Alaska season, deploying four ships on seven-night cruises from Seattle, Seward and Vancouver. The program runs from April through September, with optional land extensions available on selected sailings.
Seattle will host two ships, including the refurbished Ovation of the Seas. Anthem of the Seas will operate the deployment’s only Seward departures and will be the only vessel paired with the line’s Cruisetour land packages.
Public sales opened October 1, following advance booking access for Crown & Anchor Society loyalty members. Reservations are available through Royal Caribbean’s website. The announcement did not include an executive statement.
Seattle sailings begin in April
Voyager of the Seas will have the longest season of the four ships, beginning in April and continuing through September. Its itineraries include calls at Juneau, Sitka and Skagway in Alaska, plus Victoria, British Columbia.
The ship carries 3,602 passengers at double occupancy. Its onboard activities include ice skating and laser tag at Studio B, mini golf and arcade games, while adults have access to the Solarium pool deck.
Ovation’s Seattle schedule runs from May through September, with visits to Skagway, Juneau and Sitka, as well as scenic cruising at Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier. The Quantum-class ship accommodates approximately 4,180 passengers at double occupancy.
Its Royal Amplified refurbishment brings a redesigned pool deck, the Sound Cellar music venue and the Pesky Parrot tiki bar. The ship also has the RipCord by iFly skydiving simulator, and its restaurants include Izumi Teppanyaki, Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen and Chops Grille.
Vancouver routes and inland Alaska stays
Anthem will sail between Vancouver and Seward from May through September, with itineraries including Ketchikan and Hubbard Glacier. Passengers can add two to six nights ashore before or after the cruise, with selected Cruisetour packages visiting Denali National Park.
The ship has a double-occupancy capacity of 4,180 passengers. Onboard facilities include the North Star observation capsule and SeaPlex indoor activity area, while shore activities available in Ketchikan include kayaking, fishing, hiking and zip lining.
Serenade of the Seas will also operate from May through September, departing Vancouver on itineraries that include Juneau, Icy Strait Point and Prince Rupert, British Columbia. At 90,090 gross tons, the Radiance-class vessel is the smallest ship in the deployment.
Serenade has more than three acres of exterior glass for taking in the scenery. Its onboard program includes poolside movies, live music in the Schooner Bar and a rock-climbing wall.
For passengers embarking in Seward, a new cruise terminal developed by Royal Caribbean Group and the Alaska Railroad provides access to the neighboring railroad station. The terminal includes arrival and embarkation facilities, and its rail connection supports transfers for guests combining a cruise with an inland stay.
