Princess Opens 2028 Alaska Cruise Sales With 185 Departures
Voyage of the Glaciers will sail one-way between Vancouver and Anchorage (Whittier), while Inside Passage voyages depart Seattle, Vancouver, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Princess Cruises has opened sales for a 2028 Alaska season built around 185 departures on 14 itineraries and eight ships, including Star Princess. The program will sail from Seattle; Vancouver, B.C.; Anchorage (Whittier); San Francisco; and Los Angeles, with 86 planned scenic-cruising visits to Glacier Bay National Park.
The Alaska deployment splits into two products: one-way Voyage of the Glaciers cruises between Vancouver and Whittier, and roundtrip Inside Passage voyages from West Coast homeports. The cruise line is also selling cruise-tour packages tied to Princess-owned wilderness lodges and rail service into the Denali area.
Glacier itineraries and West Coast departures
The 2028 schedule includes 16 Alaska destinations, among them Juneau, Ketchikan and Skagway. Scenic cruising is scheduled in Glacier Bay, Hubbard Glacier, College Fjord, and Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier, with late-evening More Ashore calls in selected ports.
“Alaska is one of the world’s most awe-inspiring destinations,” said Jim Berra, Princess Cruises’ chief commercial officer.
Voyage of the Glaciers is Princess’ seven-day one-way Alaska itinerary between Vancouver and Anchorage (Whittier). Princess lists two glacier-viewing experiences on every sailing, typically pairing Glacier Bay with Hubbard Glacier or College Fjord.
Roundtrip Inside Passage voyages will depart from Seattle, Vancouver, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Cruisetours use Princess lodges and rail service
Princess’ 2028 cruisetours include Glacier Bay National Park and Denali National Park on most itineraries, with select programs visiting as many as four national parks. The company groups them into three collections: Denali Essentials, Denali Explorer and Denali Escorted.
The cruise line operates five Alaska wilderness lodges: Copper River Princess Wilderness Lodge, Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge, Fairbanks Princess Riverside Lodge, Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge and Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge. The properties support cruise-tour stays near Denali, Kenai Fjords and Wrangell-St. Elias national parks.
Princess’ Direct-to-the-Wilderness rail service connects Whittier with the Denali area on custom glass-domed railcars with open-air viewing platforms. Princess uses the service to move guests from ship to lodge the same day on cruise-tour itineraries. It also runs summer rail segments among Anchorage, Talkeetna, Denali and Fairbanks.
Glacier Bay access remains capacity-constrained
Cruise ships need National Park Service concession authorization to enter Glacier Bay, where daily cruise traffic is limited to two ships and annual cruise-ship entries are capped at roughly 150 per summer season.
Ships do not dock in Glacier Bay. The visit is scenic cruising, usually lasting about nine to 10 hours.
Princess did not include a full eight-ship roster or starting fares in the announcement.
