Princess Cruises Returns to Amazon River in 2028-29
Every Hawaii voyage will include an extended evening call in Honolulu, with roundtrip sailings departing from Los Angeles, San Francisco and Vancouver.
Princess Cruises will resume Amazon River cruising for the first time since 2014 in its 2028-2029 Americas season, which includes more than 250 departures. Announced October 13, 2026, the program also introduces a 64-day Circle South America voyage aboard Coral Princess, combining Antarctica, the Amazon and the Panama Canal.
The schedule ranges from four-day Pacific Coast cruises to extended South America voyages. Other additions include Princess’ first calls at Iles de la Madeleine in Canada and the return of roundtrip Hawaii sailings from Vancouver.
“There is an incredible diversity found across the Americas, and our 2028-2029 season gives guests an extraordinary range of ways to experience it,” said Jim Berra, chief commercial officer of Princess Cruises. The season announcement did not specify starting fares or individual departure dates.
Amazon return and full Panama Canal transits
The South America program comprises 13 departures on 11 itineraries aboard Majestic Princess and Coral Princess, covering 38 destinations in 16 countries. Alongside the new circumnavigation, which will pass through the Panama Canal’s original locks, options include 17-day Antarctica and Patagonia cruises and 15-day voyages through Cape Horn and the glaciers of Patagonia. The Amazon itineraries will include scenic river cruising and a port call at Santarem, Brazil.
Longer port visits in South America include late-night or overnight calls at Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro and Lima. Passengers can also add land packages visiting Peru’s Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu, or Iguazu Falls from both the Brazilian and Argentine sides.
The separate Panama Canal program has 12 departures across nine itineraries lasting 16 to 20 days. Crown Princess, Island Princess, Ruby Princess and Star Princess join Coral Princess in that deployment, with calls in Mexico, Central America, South America and the Caribbean.
The canal schedule includes two voyages through the original locks and six transits through the expanded Neopanamax locks. Full-transit itineraries link the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.
Caribbean departures lead the regional schedule
The Caribbean accounts for 141 departures, with 49 itineraries lasting five to 17 days. Sailings depart from Fort Lauderdale, Port Canaveral, San Juan, New York and Barbados, visiting 24 destinations across 20 islands. Port calls include St. Thomas, St. Maarten and Cozumel, with extended stays available in Aruba, Barbados, Bonaire and Curacao.
Selected Caribbean sailings also visit Celebration Key and RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas, as well as Isla Tropicale at Roatan, Honduras. Activities across those destinations include beach visits, snorkeling, kayaking and horseback riding, alongside dining and shopping options.
A new Canadian call farther north
Regal Princess and Caribbean Princess will operate 17 Canada and New England departures on five itineraries ranging from seven to 14 days. The routes cover New England, Atlantic Canada and the St. Lawrence River, with Iles de la Madeleine joining the schedule in 2028. The Gulf of St. Lawrence islands are home to red sandstone cliffs and Acadian culture. Seven Classic Canada and New England voyages will include an overnight stay in Quebec.
Mexico, Hawaii and Pacific Coast options
Princess will offer 35 Mexico departures from Los Angeles and San Francisco, with voyages lasting seven to 11 days. Destinations include Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta, Manzanillo and La Paz. Every 10-day Baja Peninsula and Sea of Cortez itinerary will also include an overnight call at Cabo San Lucas.
The Hawaii program has 14 departures visiting Oahu, Maui, Kauai and Hawaii Island. Roundtrip cruises will operate from Los Angeles, San Francisco and Vancouver. Every Hawaii voyage will include an extended evening call in Honolulu.
Those same three homeports will offer 18 California Coast departures lasting four to seven days. The itineraries include late-night calls in San Diego, San Francisco and Victoria. Across the season, Princess has scheduled more than 50 opportunities for passengers to sail beneath the Golden Gate Bridge.
