Princess Cruises AI Planning App Launches on Claude

On Claude’s web and desktop versions, users can find the Princess Cruises connector under Customize and Connectors, then enable it in a new or existing chat.

Princess Cruises has made its AI-powered cruise planning and management app available in Claude, a week after its debut in ChatGPT, where it launched with coverage of more than 330 destinations across the line's 17-ship fleet. Access requires a Claude account on a plan that supports connectors.

On Claude's web and desktop versions, users open Customize > Connectors and select Discover to browse the directory. They can then search for Princess Cruises, open its listing and select the option to add or connect it, completing any requested sign-in or permission steps.

The connector must be enabled in a new or existing conversation. Mobile users follow the same setup process, then tap the + button in chat, choose Connectors and check that Princess Cruises is active.

The Claude launch announcement did not provide a separate feature list or specify which booking and post-booking tasks users can complete within the app.

What the ChatGPT version can do

The earlier ChatGPT release connects directly to information and services on Princess's website, allowing travelers to check current fares and availability without leaving the conversation. Users add the Princess app to their ChatGPT account and tag @princesscruises in a request.

Searches can be narrowed by sailing date, destination and voyage duration. Travelers can compare ships and itineraries and review onboard offerings and packages. They can also look into ports, shore excursions and cruisetours.

The conversation retains the context of earlier questions as users adjust their requirements. An Alaska search, for example, can progress to questions about departures from Seattle or visits to Glacier Bay National Park, followed by a comparison of two sailings.

For cruisetours, travelers can investigate the land and cruise portions in the same exchange. Users interested in a particular shore excursion can also ask which itineraries offer it.

In the ChatGPT launch announcement, Neena Vicente, Princess Cruises' vice president of digital commerce and experience, said consumers were increasingly using generative AI “not simply to find information, but to help evaluate choices and plan increasingly complex trips.”

Princess described that initial release as the first native ChatGPT app from a global cruise line. The line also said the app could refine options to suit individual vacation preferences.

Princess has said expansion to other compatible AI platforms will depend on platform availability and technical requirements. It gave no timetable for further launches.
