MSC World Asia to Debut 1,260-Square-Meter Aurea Spa

MSC Cruises will open a 1,260-square-meter MSC Aurea Spa aboard MSC World Asia, combining 12 thermal installations with consultation-led services, cryotherapy, dry flotation and infrared treatments. The venue will enter service when the ship begins seven-night Mediterranean cruises on Dec. 4, 2026.

MSC calls the facility its most comprehensive wellness offering to date. Aurea Spas elsewhere in the fleet commonly include treatment rooms, saunas, steam rooms and whirlpools; MSC World Asia will add technology-assisted assessments and several equipment-based therapies.

“Our ambition with MSC World Asia was to create a spa that rivals the finest wellness destinations on land,” said Georg Schmickler, senior vice president of onboard revenues at MSC Cruises.

Thermal suite anchors the new spa

The spa’s thermal area will offer a panoramic sea-view sauna, a snow room, aromatic steam rooms, Finnish and bio saunas, a Himalayan salt room and Japanese-inspired ganbanyoku beds. Experience showers, whirlpools and relaxation lounges complete the 12-part circuit.

MSC said the spa’s design draws on the culture, art and landscapes of Asia, continuing a design theme planned for other public spaces aboard the ship.

The treatment menu will include Starpool dry-float therapy, which allows guests to use a heated flotation unit without entering the water. Whole-body cryotherapy will be offered for recovery, while the Iyashi Dome will use far-infrared heat in a Japanese-inspired treatment.

LPG Endermologie will provide non-invasive mechanical treatment using motorized rollers and a flap to stimulate skin and connective tissue. MSC said the service is intended to support collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid production while smoothing and firming the skin.

Spa appointments will begin with a personalized consultation. Available assessments will include AI-assisted skin and scalp analysis and FootBalance 3D foot scanning, alongside customized facial treatments and individual wellness recommendations.

The adjoining MSC Gym, operated with Technogym equipment, will have functional training areas, group classes and personal coaching.

Ship prepares for Mediterranean debut

At 333.3 meters, the LNG-powered MSC World Asia is designed to accommodate as many as 6,758 guests and 2,142 crew members. It is the third vessel in MSC’s World Class series, following MSC World Europa in 2022 and MSC World America in 2025.

The regular seven-night itinerary will include Barcelona, Marseille, Genoa, Civitavecchia for Rome, Messina and Valletta, with embarkation available at multiple ports.

Other announced onboard additions include a 300-square-meter Venchi venue combining a chocolate shop, cafe and gelateria. MSC is also introducing pop-up retail spaces in the family-oriented Harbour and Clubhouse venues, alongside shopping areas in the World Promenade and World Galleria.

MSC World Asia began its first sea trials after leaving Chantiers de l’Atlantique on July 15. Testing covers the ship’s engines, maneuverability, fuel efficiency and safety systems.

Chantiers de l’Atlantique is scheduled to deliver the vessel to MSC Cruises in late November.
