MSC Musica Enters Malta Refit to Add Yacht Club Suites

MSC Musica has entered Palumbo Malta Shipyard for an approximately 45-day refurbishment that will add a 63-suite MSC Yacht Club, two specialty restaurants and updated public spaces. The ship is scheduled to resume passenger service in Brazil on November 16, 2026, after crossing the Atlantic without guests.

The refit is part of a four-ship upgrade program, and most of the new suites will be created by combining smaller staterooms. The 2006-built, 92,409-gross-ton ship carries 2,550 passengers and currently has 1,275 cabins.

The Yacht Club will have its own lounge, restaurant and sun deck reserved for guests staying in the complex. The keycard-access enclave comes with round-the-clock butler service and a dedicated concierge, and its guests can still use the ship’s other entertainment and facilities.

Dining additions will include the Butcher’s Cut steakhouse and Kaito Sushi Bar. Elsewhere onboard, the former nightclub will make way for a new fitness center and gym, while the MSC Aurea Spa will receive a substantial upgrade. No executive comment was included with the refit details.

The ship is due to leave the yard in early November for its repositioning voyage to South America. Its initial Brazilian program will consist of three- and four-night sailings, with calls including Buzios and Ilha Grande.

In late December, MSC Musica will shift to Brazil’s southern coast to operate seven-night cruises from Paranagua and Itajai. Those itineraries will run through March 2027 and call at Ilhabela, Ilha Grande, Buzios and Rio de Janeiro, with embarkation also available in Rio.

The vessel is scheduled to return to Europe in mid-April for a summer deployment in the Western Mediterranean. Its seven-night cruises to Spain, France and Italy will continue through late October 2027.
