MSC Cruises Cancels Middle East Season in Winter Reshuffle

MSC Cruises has revised its 2027-28 winter deployment, assigning MSC Euribia to the Canary Islands, MSC World Atlantic to Port Canaveral for its inaugural season and MSC World Asia to southern Caribbean service from Martinique. The plan also moves MSC Meraviglia to South America and removes the previously scheduled United Arab Emirates and Qatar program.

The cancellation of the Middle East season led to several of the vessel reassignments. No executive comment accompanied the revised deployment details.

Larger ship assigned to Canary Islands

MSC Euribia will operate seven-night cruises from four Canary Islands homeports, with the itineraries also visiting Madeira. The ship replaces MSC Fantasia, which will take over Euribia’s previously planned Western Mediterranean deployment.

The 6,327-guest Euribia has 2,419 cabins, against 4,363 passengers and about 1,636 cabins aboard Fantasia. Euribia is approximately 184,000 gross tons, compared with Fantasia’s 137,936 gross tons.

Seven MSC ships are currently scheduled to spend the winter in Mediterranean and northern European waters. MSC Preziosa will operate in northern Europe, while MSC World Europa, MSC Seaview, MSC Fantasia, MSC Magnifica, MSC Orchestra and MSC Lirica will sail Mediterranean itineraries. Magnifica is then scheduled to depart on a 115-night world cruise in early 2028.

World Atlantic to debut from Port Canaveral

MSC World Atlantic will spend its first season at Port Canaveral alongside MSC Grandiosa. The approximately 215,863-gross-ton newbuild is expected to accommodate about 6,758 guests in more than 2,580 cabins.

Miami’s winter roster comprises MSC World America, MSC Seashore, MSC Seaside and MSC Poesia, while MSC Seascape will continue sailing from Galveston. MSC’s deployment overview describes a six-ship U.S. program, although the named homeport assignments total seven vessels. The outline does not reconcile that count.

Middle East cancellation reshapes Americas program

MSC Meraviglia will make its South American debut after being moved from a previously planned southern Caribbean assignment. It will join MSC Virtuosa, MSC Divina, MSC Splendida and MSC Musica on cruises serving Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay.

MSC World Asia will assume the Martinique itineraries originally allocated to Meraviglia. The LNG-powered ship, with capacity for 6,758 guests in 2,582 cabins, is scheduled for delivery by Chantiers de l’Atlantique in November and is due to begin sailing from Barcelona in December 2026.

In the southern Caribbean, World Asia will operate alongside MSC Opera, which is scheduled to begin year-round service in the region in late 2026.

Sinfonia returns to South Africa as Armonia remains unassigned

MSC’s booking website now lists MSC Sinfonia for cruises from Durban and Cape Town. MSC Armonia had originally been scheduled for a second consecutive South African season, while Sinfonia will return after an absence from the region.

In Asia, MSC Bellissima will continue its year-round Far East deployment, with departures from Taiwan and Japan during the winter.

MSC Armonia remains without a published winter assignment. The 2001-built ship, the oldest and smallest in MSC’s fleet, has no scheduled sailings between October 2027 and March 2028.
