Costa Cruises Signs 10-Year La Romana Fly-Cruise Agreement
For winter 2026/27, Costa Fascinosa will sail two seven-night itineraries from La Romana, bookable separately or combined into a two-week holiday.
Costa Cruises has signed a 10-year agreement with Central Romana Corporation for fly-cruise operations at La Romana in the Dominican Republic. The agreement covers vessel calls, flights, berthing and the port and airport facilities needed for Costa's homeport operations.
The deal extends an established relationship at a destination where Central Romana operates both the cruise port and international airport. Transfers between the two take about 15 minutes.
Daniel Caprile, Costa Cruises’ vice president of pricing and revenue management, itinerary and transportation, said the agreement provides “a stable framework for the next decade.” He said longer-term planning would help coordinate ships, air services and shoreside operations “for the benefit of our guests and travel partners.”
The agreement was signed at World Travel Market in London, with Dominican Republic Tourism Minister David Collado in attendance. Collado said such long-term commitments “support international connectivity, sustainable tourism and economic opportunities for our communities.”
Coordinating port and airport services
La Romana’s cruise port has two docks, a passenger terminal and bus parking. Its Sugar Breeze Cruise Terminal provides immigration, customs, baggage-handling and security facilities for both transit and turnaround passengers, with ships docking directly alongside.
The airport is managed by Airport Management Services, a Central Romana subsidiary. The fly-cruise arrangement covers services both to and from La Romana.
Luis Emilio Rodriguez Amiama, Central Romana Corporation’s La Romana airport and port director, said the agreement “strengthens La Romana as a strategic cruise destination, homeport and fly & cruise hub in the Caribbean.”
Central Romana has also signed a separate 10-year fly-cruise agreement with AIDA Cruises.
