Weather Cancels Vista Call, Ending Corner Brook Cruise Season

Vista was one of three ships making inaugural calls at Corner Brook in 2025; Explora 3 also debuted, while Crown Princess stayed overnight during its July visit.

Weather forced the cancellation of Oceania Cruises’ Vista call at the Port of Corner Brook, removing the final scheduled ship visit of the 2025 cruise season. The vessel had been expected to arrive with more than 2,000 passengers and crew.

The call would have been Vista’s fourth of the season, following its first visit in early September, according to Patti Ricketts, the port’s Cruise and Community Engagement Coordinator. Ricketts described Oceania as a luxury line that has regularly brought ships to Corner Brook.

Vista was one of three ships to make inaugural calls during the season. The other inaugural visitors Ricketts identified were Explora 3 and Crown Princess. The Princess Cruises ship stayed overnight during its July visit.

Built in 2023 at Fincantieri’s Sestri Ponente yard in Genoa, Vista measures 68,000 gross tons and accommodates 1,200 guests at double occupancy. The ship carries approximately 800 crew members.

Ricketts outlined a season schedule of 12 planned port calls and approximately 16,500 passengers, starting in mid-June.

The port’s separately published full-year 2025 statistics cover March 10 through October 22 and record 24 calls, 30,540 passengers and 15,877 crew members. Those figures cover a longer period than the schedule Ricketts outlined. The port called 2025 its longest cruise season on record.

Ricketts said details of the 2025 season’s economic impact were expected within the following few months.
