VIVA Cruises Renames Douro Ship VIVA MIRANTE for 2027 Season

Built at Kladovo Shipyard in Serbia, the eighty-metre vessel entered service in 2024 with 60 outside double cabins and French balconies on its middle and upper decks.

VIVA Cruises has renamed its 120-guest Douro river ship VIVA MIRANTE, replacing Porto Mirante with immediate effect. The change comes ahead of the vessel’s first full season operating exclusively for the line in 2027.

The ship is scheduled to offer 32 departures between March and November that year. Alongside the name change, its entrance will be updated to match the appearance of the wider VIVA Cruises fleet, and marketing images will be revised to carry the new name.

“The Douro is a wonderful destination to discover by river, with its vineyards, historic towns and spectacular scenery,” said Michelle Daniels, VIVA Cruises’ director of sales for the UK and Ireland and Australia and New Zealand.

Seven-night sailings from Porto

The 2027 programme includes a seven-night itinerary called “Douro – A Journey Along the Golden River.” A sample departure on June 23 sails from Porto and calls at Folgosa, Vega Terron, Pocinho, Pinhao and Regua. Advertised fares for that sailing start at 2,295 per person. The announcement did not give a currency.

VIVA’s all-inclusive offering covers meals and a selection of premium drinks, including wine, spirits and cocktails. Wi-Fi and gratuities are also included, along with High Tea once during each voyage.

Cabins come with a minibar restocked daily, a Nespresso coffee machine, a welcome bottle of prosecco and Rituals toiletries. VIVA generally offers flexible dining across as many as three restaurants, but VIVA MIRANTE has two.

A vessel designed for the Douro

Built at Kladovo Shipyard in Serbia, the 80-metre vessel entered service in 2024 and was designed specifically for the Douro and its locks. It has 60 outside double cabins, with French balconies fitted to accommodation on the middle and upper decks.

Public spaces include a panoramic lounge with a bar and a separate sky lounge. A fitness room and boutique are also onboard, while the sun deck has a swimming pool and loungers.
