Viking Unveils 2028-29 World Cruises Across Six Continents
The 142-day sailing aboard Viking Vesta departs Fort Lauderdale on December 21, 2028, with overnight stays scheduled in Sydney, Singapore and Cape Town.
Viking has announced its 2028-29 World Cruise program with four long-duration options ranging from 125 to 170 days and itineraries linking the Panama Canal, the Pacific, Southeast Asia, Africa and Europe. The core 142-day Viking World Cruise sails on the Viking Vesta from Fort Lauderdale on Dec. 21, 2028, and ends in London on May 12, 2029.
The four options depart from Fort Lauderdale and Los Angeles. They end in London or Stockholm. The longest option extends the Fort Lauderdale-to-London sailing by nearly a month with additional calls in Northern Europe and Scandinavia.
"Our approach has always been to focus on the destination," Torstein Hagen, Viking’s executive chairman, said. He said the line’s world cruises are intended for travelers "who have the time and desire to experience dozens of phenomenal destinations around the globe."
Four itinerary lengths
The 142-day Viking World Cruise spans six continents and 31 countries. Guests are scheduled to transit the Panama Canal, sail along North America’s West Coast and cross the Pacific for calls in Hawaii, French Polynesia, New Zealand and Australia.
The itineraries also include ports across Southeast Asia and Africa, with overnight stays scheduled in Sydney, Singapore, Zanzibar, Cape Town and Casablanca before the European portion of the voyages.
Viking World Voyage III runs 170 days by continuing from London to 21 additional ports in Northern Europe and Scandinavia before ending in Stockholm. Viking World Voyage IV is a 153-day Los Angeles-to-Stockholm sailing visiting 37 countries, while Viking World Discoveries runs 125 days from Los Angeles to London and visits 27 countries.
Enrichment and overland options
All voyages include lectures and entertainment, including Viking’s Resident Historian program. The enrichment series uses university-style talks, roundtable discussions and office hours tied to the ship’s itinerary, with programming across history, arts, architecture, music and culture.
The shore program offers included excursions, along with optional multi-day overland tours. Viking named a six-day Uluru and Great Barrier Reef program, a six-day India’s Golden Triangle tour and a five-day Kruger National Park overland option among the add-ons.
The voyages are eligible for Viking’s Spring Sale for North American travelers through May 31, 2026. The offer includes business-class air and transfers at no charge, $4,000 per couple in shore-excursion credit, $4,000 per couple in shipboard credit for returning guests and a 10 percent discount on the deposit.
