TUI Cruises Names Three Guests as Mein Schiff Flow Godmothers
The selection drew about nine hundred applicants and fifteen thousand Mein Schiff fan votes; the InTUItion-class ship is listed for three thousand nine hundred eighty-four passengers.
TUI Cruises has selected three past guests to serve as godmothers for Mein Schiff Flow, with the new ship scheduled to be christened June 20 at the port of Trieste. The company identified the godmothers by first name as Julia, 20, Annabelle, 35, and Karin, 67, after a selection process that drew about 900 applicants and 15,000 votes from Mein Schiff fans.
Mein Schiff Flow is the second InTUItion-class ship, a roughly 160,000 GT vessel listed by TUI with capacity for 3,984 passengers. Prior travel with TUI Cruises was required to apply. Annabelle has taken 25 cruises with the line, while Karin has completed 50.
“When people connect their stories with TUI Cruises, it creates more than just a vacation,” TUI Cruises CEO Wybcke Meier said. “It creates a sense of belonging across generations.” Meier said the company wanted three personalities who, together, would reflect the diversity of Mein Schiff guests.
Designer Guido Maria Kretschmer informed the three women of their selection and provided outfits from his Couture collection for the christening ceremony.
Christening voyage begins from Trieste
The June 20 ceremony will take place during an eight-day christening voyage departing Trieste on June 18 and arriving in Palma on June 25. Before that, Mein Schiff Flow is scheduled to operate a pre-inaugural roundtrip from Trieste from June 14 to 17.
TUI Cruises has built the christening program around live entertainment, music, art and movement, with activities spread across several days and locations onboard. Yoga and mindfulness sessions are scheduled with Berenice Seiss and Coco Achinger, while artist Christian Awe is due to create large-scale work during the voyage.
The entertainment schedule includes Irish singer and guitarist Rea Garvey performing live on June 19, followed by German singer-songwriter Tim Bendzko on June 20. The onboard culinary program is expected to include appearances by Michelin-starred chef Tim Raue, bartender Linh Nguyen and Jörg Wagner of the Wagner chocolate manufactory.
The ship’s first welcome cruise will also host Lady Amarena by Fabbri1905, an international competition for women bartenders.
Winter deployment shifts to German homeports
Mein Schiff Flow had previously been planned for Arabian Gulf sailings, but TUI Cruises will instead deploy the ship from German homeports for the winter season because of the geopolitical situation. Meier told Cruise Industry News the redeployment should work well for the company given current demand from the German market.
