Seabourn Names Expedition Teams for 2026-27 Antarctica Cruises
Each sailing carries a 21-member team to lead shore landings, Zodiac excursions and optional kayaking, with daily briefings and Seabourn Conversations sessions onboard.
Seabourn has named expedition leaders and specialists for 19 Antarctica departures aboard sister ships Seabourn Venture and Seabourn Pursuit. The voyages will sail round trip from Ushuaia between November 2026 and March 2027.
Each sailing will carry a 21-member expedition team, bringing together expertise in geology, polar history, conservation, environmental science, marine biology and wildlife research. Seabourn said the group’s experience spans Antarctica and Patagonia and includes more than 20 consecutive Antarctic seasons.
Five expedition leaders will head the program: Luciano Bernacchi, Dom del Rosario, Fridrik Fridriksson, Juan Restrepo and Ignacio Rojas. Sean Bercaw and Joe Cockram will serve as assistant expedition leaders.
The teams will direct shore landings and Zodiac excursions, as well as optional kayaking outings. Their onboard responsibilities include daily briefings, lectures and sessions in the line’s Seabourn Conversations enrichment program.
“Time and again, guests tell us that the knowledge, enthusiasm, and personal insights shared by our team members transformed the way they experienced a destination,” said Robin West, Seabourn’s vice president of expeditions.
The announced lecturers and field specialists include marine mammal scientist Sean Todd and whale researcher Molly Gaughan. Ornithologist JJ Apestegui and seabird researcher Kim Stevens are also scheduled to sail, alongside conservationist Brent Houston.
Archaeologist and Viking scholar Elizabeth Pierce, geologist Lori Snyder and astronomer Vishwa Rana are also on the list. Seabourn said the personnel named in the announcement represent only part of the full roster.
Most voyages will last 10 to 12 days. Selected 20-day itineraries will also visit South Georgia and the Falkland Islands. Every Antarctica sailing includes a hotel stay in Buenos Aires before the cruise and round-trip charter flights to Ushuaia.
