Passenger Dies Aboard Seven Seas Voyager, Taken Ashore in Ireland
Seven Seas Voyager anchored off the western shore of Lough Foyle before the passenger was taken approximately thirty-nine miles to Letterkenny University Hospital.
A passenger died aboard Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ Seven Seas Voyager during a 12-night sailing from Reykjavik to Southampton and was brought ashore at Greencastle, Ireland, on Aug. 28, 2026. Ireland’s Garda is treating the death as a medical emergency and is not investigating it as a criminal matter.
The ship continued its scheduled itinerary, calling at Belfast and Cobh before arriving in Southampton on Sept. 1.
Seven Seas Voyager had anchored off Greencastle on the western shore of Lough Foyle when the passenger was taken ashore. The passenger was then transported approximately 39 miles to Letterkenny University Hospital.
“It was all organised by the ship’s agent and dealt with by the Garda in accordance with Irish regulations,” a Foyle Port spokesperson told Ireland Live.
It remains unclear exactly when the passenger died. The passenger’s identity and cause of death have not been released publicly.
Seven Seas Voyager continues operations
The ship’s Viking Vistas cruise departed Reykjavik on Aug. 20. After completing that voyage in Southampton, Seven Seas Voyager began its next scheduled cruise the same day, a 10-night sailing to Copenhagen.
A call at Zeebrugge on the new itinerary was canceled so the vessel could remain in Southampton through Sept. 2 for shore power testing. That schedule change was unrelated to the passenger’s death.
After leaving Southampton, the ship continued to Rotterdam. The remaining itinerary includes Kristiansand, Oslo, Lysekil, Aarhus and Kiel before its scheduled arrival in Copenhagen on Sept. 11.
