MSC World Atlantic Floats Out Ahead of 2027 Caribbean Debut
Designed for up to 6,762 passengers, MSC World Atlantic will have 2,626 cabins and more than 38,000 square metres of public areas across seven districts.
MSC Cruises’ next U.S. flagship, MSC World Atlantic, floated out at Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire, France, on September 26, 2026. The ship is scheduled to begin Caribbean sailings from Port Canaveral, Florida, in November 2027.
The LNG-fuelled newbuild will be the fourth vessel in MSC Cruises’ World Class series and is expected to become the 25th ship in the line’s fleet.
MSC World Atlantic will remain at the French shipyard for interior outfitting, completion of public areas and remaining technical work. Delivery to MSC Cruises is scheduled for 2027, before the start of its inaugural season.
Bookings are open for alternating seven- and 14-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries. Destinations include Grand Turk and Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, the company’s private island in the Bahamas.
No executive statement accompanied the float-out announcement.
Construction and onboard plans
Construction began with a steel-cutting ceremony at Saint-Nazaire on March 27, 2025. The 215,863-gross-ton ship is designed to accommodate as many as 6,762 passengers, with 2,626 cabins planned.
The vessel will have more than 38,000 square metres of public areas. Its layout divides the onboard facilities and entertainment into seven districts, including an MSC Yacht Club ship-within-a-ship area.
MSC World Atlantic will use a dual-fuel system operating mainly on LNG, with five engines producing a combined output of approximately 80 MW. It will also be able to connect to shore power and is compatible with renewable LNG.
Port Canaveral’s place in the Caribbean deployment
MSC World Atlantic’s inaugural season forms part of a nine-ship Caribbean deployment for winter 2027–28. Seven vessels will operate from U.S. homeports, while the remaining two will sail from Martinique, Guadeloupe and the Dominican Republic.
At Port Canaveral, the newbuild will join MSC Grandiosa, which is scheduled to operate short Bahamas cruises. MSC’s published deployment also includes four ships in Miami offering voyages of three to 11 nights, while MSC Seascape will continue seven-night Western Caribbean cruises from Galveston.
The World Class series so far
The World Class series began with MSC World Europa, delivered in 2022. MSC World America followed with its handover in March 2025 and will continue weeklong Eastern and Western Caribbean sailings from Miami for a third consecutive winter season.
The next delivery in the series is MSC World Asia, which completed its final sea trials in September 2026. Handover is planned for November, followed by the start of Mediterranean service in December.
