MSC World Asia to Begin Mediterranean Sailings in December 2026
Built by Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire, the 216,638-gross-ton vessel can carry up to 6,764 guests and is scheduled for delivery on 25 November 2026.
MSC Cruises will begin guest sailings aboard its new flagship, MSC World Asia, on 4 December 2026, with seven-night Mediterranean itineraries. The programme includes calls at Barcelona, Marseille, Genoa, Civitavecchia for Rome, Naples, Messina and Valletta.
With one month remaining before its debut, the third LNG-powered vessel in MSC’s World Class series will introduce 13 new experiences and redesigned spaces compared with MSC World Europa. The additions span complimentary dining, theatrical productions, family attractions and accommodation.
Built by Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire, France, the 216,638-gross-ton ship measures 333.3 metres in length and can accommodate up to 6,764 guests, according to MSC’s published specifications.
MSC World Asia will operate in the Mediterranean throughout its inaugural winter and summer seasons, with embarkation available at multiple ports. It will then move to the Southern Caribbean for winter 2027/2028, offering seven- and 14-night itineraries.
Dining additions range from poolside stalls to Eataly
The ship will have more than 40 restaurants, bars, cafés and lounges, including 20 dining venues. The restaurant mix comprises five main dining rooms, including the exclusive MSC Yacht Club restaurant, six speciality concepts, two buffets and seven fast-casual or takeaway options.
MSC describes the complimentary dining selection as its most extensive to date. On the Aqua Deck, the new Aqua Food Market will have five stalls preparing customisable dishes such as salads, sandwiches, pitas and loaded fries, with guests able to eat there or take food back to the pool. A separate Buffet Grab & Go counter will serve ready-to-eat snacks nearby.
The new Pan-Asian Street Food venue will combine a speciality restaurant, bar and complimentary daytime takeaway window serving items including bao buns and seafood balls. Its menu will draw on more than five Asian culinary destinations, with an open kitchen for sit-down diners. Elsewhere, Pizza & Burger will serve food around the clock beside Luna Park.
Eataly will open its second restaurant at sea, following MSC World America, and its first aboard a ship operating in Europe. The venue will feature live cooking, a dedicated Chef’s Table and terrace dining, while guests can select wine during a personalised visit to the cellar at The Terrace Bar.
“Partnering with Eataly allows us to bring a renowned culinary brand to sea,” said Gianni Onorato, CEO of MSC Cruises.
A 300-square-metre Venchi venue will combine a chocolate boutique, café and gelateria. MSC says it will be the fleet’s largest Venchi space and the first on a World Class ship, offering 20 gelato flavours, 20 praline varieties and 11 types of chocolate bar.
Five new bar and lounge concepts include the Clubhouse and Soda Bar, where families can create their own sodas, The Terraces Bar & Lounge and the poolside Coral Cove Bar. The returning Masters of the Sea Pub will house a full-scale microbrewery producing three beers developed with Baladin using desalinated seawater: Oceanic Pils, Oceanic India Pale Ale and Oceanic Asian Blanche.
Family attractions and six stage productions
The Harbour outdoor family area has been redesigned with Asian-inspired elements. Its attractions include a Play Deck, an expanded aquapark and a two-level Adventure Trail ropes course, alongside complimentary snacks from The Harbour Bar & Bites.
Cliffhanger will suspend riders 50 metres above the ocean; MSC describes it as Europe’s first over-water swing at sea. The Spiral @ Tree of Life, inspired by Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay, will extend 81.3 metres across 12 decks and is billed by the line as the longest dry slide at sea.
The entertainment programme comprises six theatrical productions. Three new World Theatre shows will join the returning concert-style Hall of Fame. La NoTte combines music and cinematic storytelling, Sensoria explores the senses through movement and circus performance, and Ritmo Divino blends flamenco with a contemporary treatment of Spanish folklore.
In the Panorama Lounge, the new Sunset Symphonic will pair orchestral arrangements of pop and dance music with live performers, choreography and aerial acts. Queen Symphonic will also return, combining a filmed 36-piece orchestra with a live rock band, singers, dancers and acrobats.
“Beyond our spectacular stage shows, MSC World Asia will feature an extensive live music programme,” said Steve Leatham, Vice President of Entertainment for MSC Cruises. A total of 33 musicians will perform daily, including strolling players, soloists, bands and duelling pianists.
Expanded suite choice and redesigned pools
The MSC Yacht Club will contain 144 suites across seven categories, the broadest category selection the line has offered in the enclave. A new Royal Duplex Suite is intended for families and groups seeking additional space and privacy.
Asian cultural and landscape influences will run through the ship’s seven districts. The Manila Bay Pool will serve as the main daytime pool and entertainment area, while Coral Cove Pool will have a retractable roof and a water-droplet installation by artist Elisabetta Milan inspired by Philippine coral reefs.
MSC World Asia has completed its final sea trials. Delivery is scheduled for 25 November 2026.
