MSC Opens 2028 Alaska Bookings as Poesia Returns to Seattle

MSC Poesia’s recent refit added sixty-nine MSC Yacht Club suites, a private sundeck with whirlpools, Butcher’s Cut steakhouse and Kaito Sushi Bar.

MSC Cruises has opened bookings for its Summer 2028 Alaska season, extending MSC Poesia’s Seattle deployment into a third year with weekly seven-night sailings from April 24 through Sept. 18, 2028. The itinerary includes Ketchikan, Icy Strait Point, Tracy Arm and Juneau in Alaska, along with Victoria, British Columbia.

The 2028 program continues an Alaska operation that began with MSC Poesia’s inaugural season on May 11 and is already scheduled to return in 2027. MSC did not include starting fares in the announcement.

MSC cites demand as Alaska program expands

“Alaska has quickly become one of our most popular destinations,” said Gianni Onorato, CEO of MSC Cruises.

The 2028 Alaska season is part of MSC Cruises’ wider Summer 2028 North American deployment, which also includes sailings from Miami, Port Canaveral, Galveston and La Romana.

Lynn Torrent, president of MSC Cruises North America, said the line has seen guest interest in Alaska’s scenery, wildlife and shore experiences since launching the program.

Refurbished MSC Poesia returns with Yacht Club suites

MSC Poesia recently completed a major refurbishment that added MSC Yacht Club, the line’s luxury ship-within-a-ship product, to the vessel. The Yacht Club addition includes 69 suites, 24-hour butler and concierge service, a dedicated restaurant, lounge, private sundeck with whirlpools, and a grill restaurant and bar. The refit also added Butcher’s Cut steakhouse and Kaito Sushi Bar.

Other updates include enhancements to MSC Aurea Spa and MSC Gym Powered by Technogym, with a Gentlemen’s Barber and workout studios, plus the Top 15 Exclusive Solarium for Aurea guests. MSC also named Dirty Dancing: In Concert among the entertainment available onboard.

Route combines Alaska ports with Victoria call

Ketchikan is a waterfront community with a fishing heritage and Alaska Native culture, while Icy Strait Point is an Indigenous-owned destination with wildlife, outdoor and cultural programming.

Tracy Arm supplies the itinerary’s scenic cruising, with views toward the Sawyer Glaciers. Juneau is the state capital. Victoria brings the route to British Columbia, with the city’s gardens and architecture alongside its waterfront attractions.

MSC Poesia Cruise Director Matias Chimicz cited Inside Passage cruising and wildlife sightings during the current Alaska season. The line listed whales, orcas, bald eagles, bears, deer, otters and harbor seals among the wildlife sightings.

MSC Poesia is scheduled to operate its 2027 Alaska season from April 26 through Sept. 27. Between Alaska seasons, the ship is planned for MSC Grand Voyage sailings through the Panama Canal between Miami and Seattle.
