Mein Schiff 6 Starts Homeport Sailings From Leixões
Passengers can combine the northbound and southbound loops into a fourteen-night voyage without repeating ports, spanning Portugal, Spain, Morocco, the United Kingdom and France.
TUI Cruises’ Mein Schiff 6 has begun a series of cruises from Leixões, Portugal, using the Porto-area port as a homeport for seven-night sailings to Western Europe and Morocco. The program pairs two weeklong itineraries that can also be booked as a 14-night voyage without repeating ports of call.
The deployment gives Leixões a turnaround role for a roughly 2,534-passenger ship through early September, before Mein Schiff 6 shifts to the Western Mediterranean and then continues toward Southeast Asia for its 2026-27 winter season.
Two seven-night loops from Portugal
The northbound itinerary from Leixões calls at Vigo, La Coruña, Bilbao and Le Verdon before returning to Portugal. The second seven-night cruise sails south, with calls at Lisbon, Cádiz, Tangier and Gibraltar.
Passengers can combine the two rotations into a 14-night cruise from Leixões, giving TUI Cruises a no-repeat-port option built around Portugal, Spain, Morocco, the United Kingdom and France.
Leixões, located near Porto, is supported by the Porto Cruise Terminal on the South Pier, about 3 kilometers from the city. The terminal can handle about 2,500 passengers in turnaround operations and has a 340-meter quay.
Mediterranean and Asia repositioning follows
In early September, Mein Schiff 6 is scheduled to leave Leixões on an eight-night repositioning cruise to Palma de Mallorca. The open-jaw sailing includes Lisbon, Cádiz, Tangier, Málaga and Barcelona.
After a short fall season in the Mediterranean, the ship is scheduled for a 53-night, three-part repositioning to Southeast Asia. The first segment is a seven-night cruise from Palma de Mallorca to the Canary Islands, followed by a 20-night voyage to Cape Town with calls in Morocco, Cape Verde, Namibia and South Africa.
The final leg departs Cape Town on a 25-night cruise to the Indian Ocean and Southeast Asia, with calls in South Africa, Mauritius, Réunion, the Maldives, Sri Lanka and Malaysia before the ship reaches Singapore in early December.
Mein Schiff 6 profile
Mein Schiff 6 was delivered to TUI Cruises by Meyer Turku in May 2017. The Malta-flagged ship is about 295 meters long, carries about 2,534 passengers at double occupancy and has roughly 1,000 crew, with a gross tonnage just under 100,000.
Following its arrival in Southeast Asia, Mein Schiff 6 is scheduled to operate TUI Cruises’ 2026-27 winter program in the region. The season is set to feature 13- to 15-night cruises to Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and additional destinations.
