Marella Discovery 2 Adds Four Venues for Adults-Only Service
At The Lost Luggage Bureau, up to 42 guests can attend 90-minute shows built around unclaimed luggage, with three cocktails included in the £19.95 admission.
Marella Cruises plans to open four new venues on the 1,836-passenger Marella Discovery 2 by early 2027 as the ship moves to permanent adults-only service. Former children’s facilities will become a private karaoke lounge, an immersive speakeasy, an escape room and a space for crafts and quiet activities.
Three of the additions will carry separate charges and require reservations; the fourth will be included in the all-inclusive fare. The adults-only conversion, announced in June, will bring the ship alongside Marella Explorer 2, which already operates without children onboard.
Marella Cruises CEO Chris Hackney said the investment follows strong customer demand for adults-only cruising. “We’ve looked closely at what guests love across our ships,” he said, citing “wider consumer trends around relaxation, social connection, immersive entertainment and creative wellbeing.”
Speakeasy shows, puzzles and private karaoke
The Lost Luggage Bureau will combine cocktails with a theatrical experience behind the entrance to an apparently forgotten lost-property office. Drawing on the Exchange concept aboard Marella Voyager, the venue takes its theme from the Golden Age of Travel, with performers and musicians telling stories around unclaimed luggage.
Guests can choose between two productions, The Case in Question and Smugglers Society. Each performance lasts 90 minutes and accommodates up to 42 people. Admission costs £19.95 per person and includes three cocktails woven into the story, with non-alcoholic alternatives available.
Red Handed will put teams backstage at the fictional Cabaret Rouge during the 1920s. Groups of up to six will have an hour to take Lady Ruby Bardot’s diamond necklace without being caught.
The escape-room challenge comprises seven logic puzzles spread between two dressing rooms, including a concealed room that participants must locate. An in-character host can supply clues through a vintage telephone. The price is £16.95 per person.
Amplify Karaoke, the line’s first dedicated venue for the activity, will offer a private room accommodating up to seven guests. Groups will be able to select from thousands of songs, with bookings priced from £14.95 for an hour’s use of the room, covering everyone in the party.
What’s included, and how to book
The Loft will remain accessible around the clock, offering books, board games and hosted creative activities without a reservation or additional admission charge. Its Crafts Ahoy programme will provide one hosted session on days in port and two on sea days. Activities will include jewellery making, watercolour painting, macrame, sketching, quilling and button art.
The ship’s climbing wall will also get a broader selection of hold sizes. It stays included in the all-inclusive fare.
Reservations for the paid venues can be made at the ship’s reception desk or through the Navigate app, and prices are subject to change. Guests seeking to reserve The Lost Luggage Bureau before sailing can also use Cruise Control on Marella’s website.
