Hurtigruten Revenue Rises 16% as 2027 Bookings Surge 35%
Hurtigruten’s Limited Collection includes its first fjord-exclusive itinerary, an eight-day Bergen–Ålesund–Bergen voyage calling at Lysefjord, Hardangerfjord, Sognefjord and Nordfjord.
Hurtigruten’s revenue is running 16 percent ahead of the same point last year, Chief Commercial Officer Iain Powell told partners during the company’s September 22–25, 2026, Global VIP Partner Summit at Sea. The company’s booked revenue for 2027 is also 35 percent ahead of its year-earlier position.
Signature revenue is up 42 percent year-on-year, ahead of the business overall. Revenue from business-to-business channels for that product has increased 48 percent, Powell said.
Hurtigruten expects to begin next year with 60 percent of its annual revenue already booked. That compares with a typical level of about 55 percent over the previous three years.
Powell said January delivered record booking intake, supported by wave-season campaigns across the company’s markets. “And I’m really, really pleased to say that pace has continued through the year. It hasn’t let up,” he said.
He attributed the gains to both stronger demand and improvements in how the company executes its plans, and said he expected Hurtigruten to finish 2026 in a strong revenue position.
Signature growth supports new itineraries
Signature voyages offer a slower-paced coastal cruise, generally visiting one or two ports each day, with calls typically lasting around five to 14 hours. The ships carry no more than approximately 500 passengers, and fares include meals and a selection of drinks.
The range includes the Svalbard Line, a 15-day round trip between Bergen and Longyearbyen, and the seasonal North Cape Line between Oslo and North Cape. Onboard guiding focuses on Norway’s coastal communities, history and natural environment.
Powell pointed to Signature’s results. “And that’s enabled us to launch new, more differentiated itineraries, such as the Limited Collection,” he said.
He also cited the completion of Hurtigruten’s fleet modernization program and a coastal contract running through 2030. The company’s Original Coastal Express connects 34 ports between Bergen and Kirkenes.
Limited Collection sailings begin in 2027
Announced in February 2026, the Limited Collection adds three Signature itineraries for 2027–28, covering western Norway’s fjords and winter voyages along the Arctic coast.
The Arctic Circle Explorer will operate eight-day round trips from Tromsø between January and April 2028. Its route includes Lofoten, Alta and Honningsvåg, with opportunities for North Cape visits and Northern Lights viewing.
The Arctic Line will connect Copenhagen and Tromsø during winter 2027–28. Northbound voyages take 12 days, while southbound departures take 11.
The Inner Fjords Explorer is scheduled for spring and autumn 2027, followed by another season in spring 2028. The eight-day Bergen–Ålesund–Bergen voyage will visit Lysefjord, Hardangerfjord, Sognefjord and Nordfjord. It is Hurtigruten’s first itinerary devoted exclusively to the fjords.
