AmaWaterways Unveils AmaMaya for 2027 Mekong Debut
AmaMaya will have 60 outward-facing staterooms with French balconies and full-size step-out verandas, supported by a crew of 54.
AmaWaterways has unveiled a first look at AmaMaya, a 120-passenger river ship scheduled to debut on the Mekong in January 2027. The custom-built vessel will sail seven-day cruises through Vietnam and Cambodia.
AmaMaya will join sister vessel AmaDara, doubling the line’s Mekong fleet to two ships.
AmaMaya will operate the Charms of the Mekong and Riches of the Mekong itineraries, sailing between Ho Chi Minh City and Kampong Cham. The routes include calls at Cai Be, Tan Chau, Phnom Penh and Angkor Ban.
The vessel will have 60 staterooms and carry 54 crew, according to AmaWaterways’ published specifications. All accommodations will face outward and feature the line’s twin-balcony configuration, pairing a French balcony with a full-size, step-out veranda.
The interior design takes movement along the river as its central theme. “The ship is contemporary and refined, but you can feel the influence of Indochine throughout,” said Catherine Powell, chief executive officer of AmaWaterways.
“It is a beautiful setting that complements the journey and creates a sense of discovery from the moment guests step on board,” she added.
Dining will center on two venues. The Mekong Restaurant will offer dishes drawing on local and international cuisines, while The Chef’s Table, the ship’s specialty restaurant, will serve a multi-course tasting menu.
Menus will incorporate Southeast Asian flavors and fresh ingredients. The line plans to accommodate vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free diets, as well as other dietary requirements.
Other public spaces will include a lounge and bar. Wi-Fi will be complimentary. AmaWaterways’ deck plans do not show an elevator.
Wellness facilities will include a fitness room, a pool on the sun deck and three massage rooms. A dedicated Wellness Host will lead fitness sessions and mindfulness activities during each cruise.
