Holland America Adds Vancouver Cruise for 2027 Alaska Season

Holland America Line will deploy six ships in Alaska from April through September 2027 for its 80th anniversary in the region. The season will introduce an eight-day Alaska Inside Passage cruise operating roundtrip from Vancouver and additional accommodations at Holland America Denali Lodge.

The land-based expansion will increase the lodge’s capacity by 72 rooms from its existing 582-room inventory. The work is part of a broader renovation scheduled for completion next year at the property near Denali National Park and Preserve.

The new Inside Passage itinerary includes Glacier Bay and port calls at Skagway, Ketchikan and Prince Rupert, British Columbia. The season announcement did not include a starting fare for the voyage.

Eurodam, Koningsdam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Noordam, Westerdam and Zaandam will operate the Alaska deployment, with departures from Seattle, Vancouver and Whittier.

Anniversary programming will include dedicated celebrations, culinary events, enrichment activities and entertainment.

Denali lodging and land-tour changes

Two new accommodation buildings will replace older structures at the lodge. The remaining construction program also includes redesigned Main Lodge interiors and public areas, along with a complete renovation of the Grizzly Grind coffee shop.

The project follows 2026 improvements that gave guests renovated accommodations and refreshed shared spaces. Chef Ethan Stowell also reworked menus across the property’s eateries, increasing the use of local ingredients and regional flavors.

Holland America added a tour director to accompany the multi-day inland segment of its Ultimate Alaska & Denali Cruisetours during the season. Its broader Alaska program combines cruising with overland travel to Denali and, on selected itineraries, Canada’s Yukon Territory.

Longer voyages extend into the Arctic and British Columbia

Noordam will operate the 28-day Legendary Alaska Arctic Circle Solstice itinerary for its third year. Departing Seattle on June 6, the roundtrip voyage will reach the Bering Sea and cross into the Arctic Circle, with its schedule spanning the summer solstice.

British Columbia features in two other programs: a seven-day Great Bear Rainforest cruise aboard Noordam and two departures of the 18-day Great Bear Rainforest & Alaska Explorer aboard Zaandam.

2026 operations and community contributions

During the season just concluded, Holland America offered more than 150 opportunities to visit destinations including Glacier Bay National Park, Hubbard Glacier, Dawes Glacier and Endicott Arm. Shore excursions provided additional access to Mendenhall and Portage glaciers.

Bartender Sam Ross developed a cocktail menu for the ships operating in Alaska, including new Glacial Ice Cocktails.

Holland America’s community contributions exceeded $320,000 during 2026, supporting organizations and initiatives in Anchorage, Juneau, Sitka, Ketchikan and Denali. That total included $150,000 for the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center to help fund animal care and development of the Holland America Moose Promenade.

Other support included a $75,000 commitment to Ketchikan American Legion Post 3. Through its Pennies program, the line also donated $5,000 to Scouting America Troops 4 and 2004.

Passengers participating in On Deck for a Cause raised more than $60,000 for Alaska Geographic, which provides educational support for Alaska’s public lands through partnerships with parks, forests, refuges and conservation areas.

“We’re proud of the memories we created this season and the relationships we continue to build in the communities we visit,” said Beth Bodensteiner, president of Holland America Line.

The company’s Alaska operations began in 1947. Its first dedicated Alaska cruise followed in 1975, when Prinsendam sailed the Inside Passage. Holland America has already opened bookings for its 2028 Alaska season.
