Fred. Olsen Announces 2028 Cruises With Canada Return

Bookings for the Canada voyage open October 1, 2026, ahead of the wider program, with Freedom Fare prices starting at £2,599 per person.

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has announced 39 sailings for January through July 2028, including its first return to Canada since 2024. The Canadian voyage will depart Liverpool on June 14 for 19 nights aboard the 1,353-guest Borealis.

The Canada sailing opens for booking on October 1, 2026, ahead of the rest of the program on October 7. The release also includes Caribbean and European itineraries, with departures from Portsmouth and Newcastle as well as a fly-cruise from Malaga.

Freedom Fares for the Canadian departure start at £2,599 per person. The itinerary calls at Belfast before crossing to St. John’s, Newfoundland, where guests can look for whales and icebergs.

Other destinations include Quebec City, with its UNESCO-listed Old Quebec district, and L’Anse aux Meadows in Newfoundland. The voyage also includes scenic cruising through Humber Arm and the Bay of Islands, followed by a call at Cobh, Ireland, before returning to Liverpool.

“Our 2028 program has been carefully designed to help guests discover more of the world around them,” said Martin Lister, head of product innovation at Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines.

Launch pricing and booking conditions

The line’s Freedom Fare Price Promise applies to bookings made by November 4, 2026, guaranteeing the lowest price during the opening four weeks of sale. A selection of cabins will also be offered to solo travelers without a single supplement.

Freedom Fares include the ability to select a cabin grade and number and choose a restaurant and dining time, subject to availability. Gratuities and selected drinks served with lunch and dinner are included. Passengers can transfer a booking to another cruise once under the applicable terms, while standard cancellation charges remain in force.

Atlantic islands and northern Europe

The 1,250-guest Balmoral will operate a 13-night fly-cruise from Malaga to Lisbon on January 24, 2028. The Canary Islands, Madeira & the Solar Eclipse itinerary includes eclipse viewing and visits to six Atlantic islands, including El Hierro. Guests can also explore Madeira’s levadas and botanical gardens. Freedom Fares begin at £1,299 per person.

The same ship will depart Portsmouth on February 13 for the 36-night Islands of Bermuda, Bahamas & Puerto Rico roundtrip. The itinerary includes the Virgin Islands, Bermuda and an overnight call at San Juan. At Great Exuma, passengers can see the Bahamas’ swimming pigs. Starting Freedom Fares are £3,499 per person.

Borealis will also sail a 10-night Norwegian fjords roundtrip from Liverpool on April 12. Beyond the scenic fjord cruising, guests can visit Briksdal Glacier, take in views from the Loen Skylift and see Fureberg Waterfall. Freedom Fares start at £1,299 per person.

The 1,338-guest Bolette will depart Newcastle on May 30 for the 13-night Nine Nations of Northern Europe cruise, with Freedom Fares from £1,849 per person. The roundtrip visits nine countries, with destinations including Tallinn’s medieval Old Town in Estonia, Helsinki’s waterfront in Finland and the markets and streets of Gdansk in Poland.
