Celestyal to Screen 2026 FIFA World Cup Matches on Two Ships
Celestyal named no broadcast channel or rights provider, and full venue details and match timings will be confirmed cruise by cruise in each ship’s daily itinerary.
Celestyal will broadcast live FIFA World Cup matches on its two ships, Celestyal Journey and Celestyal Discovery, from June 11 to July 19, 2026. The screenings will be offered during Greek Islands, Adriatic and Mediterranean cruises, with public venues assigned on each ship.
The 2026 tournament will be played in the United States, Canada and Mexico, with 48 teams competing across 104 matches.
Ship venues named for screenings
On Celestyal Journey, games are planned for the Martini Lounge, Galazio Bar and Halara Bar. On Celestyal Discovery, screenings are scheduled for Cafe Nation and the Star Bar & Lounge.
“The World Cup is one of those rare events that brings people together, and we know many of our guests will want to follow their team while they are away,” said Lee Haslett, chief commercial officer at Celestyal.
Haslett said placing matches in public spaces was “a natural addition to the onboard atmosphere.” Celestyal named no broadcast channel or rights provider.
Other cruise operators have set screening plans
Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises have also confirmed shipboard World Cup screenings. Royal Caribbean plans to show games on pool decks, in theaters and in Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade, and is serving as host city sponsor for the FIFA Fan Festival Miami at Bayfront Park.
Ambassador Cruise Line has secured rights to every match aboard Ambience and Ambition via Sport 24 Special Event Channels, with venue details to be confirmed by sailing. MSC Cruises plans fleetwide coverage, including on MSC World Europa and MSC World America during Mediterranean and Caribbean sailings, in venues such as sports bars, casino spaces, poolside LED screens and lounges.
Carnival Corporation cruise lines including Holland America Line, Princess, P&O Cruises and Cunard have said all 104 matches will be available across their fleets. Holland America plans stateroom viewing on Sport 24 Special Event Channels, while P&O Cruises and Cunard have named venues including Brodie’s and the Golden Lion for game coverage.
Carnival UK president Paul Ludlow said the screenings would let guests “stay connected with their teams” while holidaying in destinations including the Mediterranean and Norwegian fjords.
