Carnival Radiance Returns to Long Beach After Victoria Dry Dock
Its first post-refit voyage was an eight-night Mexican Riviera round trip, calling at Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, La Paz and Cabo San Lucas.
Carnival Radiance returned to passenger service in Long Beach on October 3 after a 15-day dry dock at Seaspan’s shipyard in Victoria, British Columbia. The Carnival Cruise Line ship received updates to its jewelry boutique and indoor and open-deck guest areas, along with a new bow crest.
The ship has resumed its year-round Southern California deployment, offering four- and five-day Mexico cruises and select 14-day Carnival Journeys departures to Hawaii. Its first post-refit voyage was an eight-night Mexican Riviera round trip calling at Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, La Paz and Cabo San Lucas.
Work inside the Effy jewelry boutique included changes to lighting and display cases. Carnival did not release a space-by-space account of the other guest-area improvements or announce any new dining venues as part of the yard visit.
The ship’s existing restaurants include Shaquille O’Neal’s Big Chicken, Guy’s Burger Joint and Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse. Other established venues include Alchemy Bar, Heroes Tribute Bar and the adults-only Serenity retreat.
Originally introduced in 2000 as Carnival Victory, the vessel became Carnival Radiance following an extensive refurbishment in 2021. Carnival’s current specifications put the ship at 102,232 gross tons, with capacity for 2,984 passengers at double occupancy.
Bow crest joins fleet rollout
The exterior update adds Carnival’s “From Sea to Shining Sea” crest, incorporating the line’s funnel emblem. Introduced for the United States’ 250th anniversary, the design first appeared on Carnival Legend and Carnival Magic following dry docks in the Bahamas.
“With the debut of this new crest, we’re reinforcing what guests have long known: Carnival is proud to be America’s Cruise Line,” Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy said when the design was unveiled.
Carnival plans to apply the crest across its U.S. fleet during scheduled dry docks and on newbuilds. Carnival Jubilee and the forthcoming Carnival Tropicale are exceptions. Both will carry the Star of Texas bow design associated with their Galveston operations.
Hawaii departures and the Mexico schedule
The next Hawaii sailing is scheduled to leave Long Beach on October 11, with calls at Kahului, Honolulu, Nawiliwili and Hilo, followed by Ensenada before the ship returns to its homeport. Further Hawaii departures are scheduled for November 8 and 28, 2026.
The early-2027 Carnival Journeys calendar includes departures on January 17, February 14, March 14 and April 11. Between the longer voyages, the ship’s Mexico program includes itineraries ranging from three to eight nights, with ports varying by departure.
Beginning April 25, 2027, the schedule shifts exclusively to three- and four-night cruises. The three-night voyages will call at Ensenada, while the four-night departures will visit both Ensenada and Catalina Island.
