Carnival Launches FunPacks Without Dynamic Pricing Details
FunPacks cost $25 to $99 per person per day and are available for departures from October 31, 2026, through December 31, 2027; booking closes October 30.
Carnival’s FunPack Savings Pitch Needs Clearer Prices Behind It
Carnival is promising savings of 35% to 55% on its new FunPacks without publishing the potential price ranges for the separately sold drinks and Wi-Fi packages moving to dynamic pricing. That leaves a fairly important piece of the comparison missing.
I’d put more value on a clear, sailing-specific price comparison than a headline discount. Bundles can be useful, but passengers need to see what the included items would actually cost separately to judge the offer.
Starting Dec. 1, 2026, Carnival Cruise Line will replace fixed beverage-package and Wi-Fi rates with prices that vary by season, itinerary and sailing length. The change will also apply in Australia, where Carnival operates from two homeports.
Carnival currently lists daily beverage-package rates ranging from $6.95 to $124 and internet plans costing $20.40 to $25.50 per person. It has not disclosed the potential ranges under the new system.
The unanswered question is how the price gets set
Asked by Global News how the pricing would be calculated, Carnival did not directly explain its methodology. In an emailed response, the line described the model as providing “greater flexibility” and accounting for seasonal demand.
That explains why prices might differ between sailings. It does not tell passengers much about how their package price will be determined.
Cruise influencer Tony Barnette raised a more specific question with NBC’s TODAY: could passengers buying the same package for the same departure receive different prices?
“The more transparency as to how the pricing is going to work, I think it would be better for cruisers,” Barnette said.
Carnival’s stated factors concern the sailing itself, which leaves Barnette’s question unresolved.
Royal Caribbean and Celebrity already use dynamic pricing for onboard packages. Carnival is following their lead, but that does not make its own pricing mechanics any clearer.
What passengers can buy, and when
The new FunPacks cost $25 to $99 per person, per day. Depending on the package selected, they combine beverage and Wi-Fi packages with benefits such as shore excursion discounts, specialty dining and spa treatment offers.
Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy said the bundles would save passengers 35% to 55% compared with purchasing the included experiences separately.
Passengers will still be able to buy beverage packages and internet plans individually. Keeping that option matters. A bundle’s usefulness depends on whether someone wants its contents, not simply how large the advertised discount looks.
Princess Cruises, another Carnival Corporation & plc brand, already offers a similar purchasing option through Princess Plus and Princess Premier, which combine drinks, Wi-Fi and other benefits.
Carnival’s FunPacks are available for departures from Oct. 31, 2026, through Dec. 31, 2027. The announced booking window closes Oct. 30, 2026. The bundle departure window therefore begins before dynamic pricing takes effect on Dec. 1.
Carnival has supplied the bundle prices, the booking deadline and an attractive savings percentage. The separate-purchase prices behind that percentage deserve just as much visibility.
