Atlas Ocean Voyages Adds New Hosts to 2027 Epicurean Sailings
Giglio’s August 20 Livorno-to-Dubrovnik voyage calls at Bonifacio, Porto Cervo, Giardini Naxos and Kotor, with Anna Wilamowska exploring chocolate, desserts and wine.
Atlas Ocean Voyages has added chef Crista Luedtke and wine writer Anthony Giglio to its 2027 Epicurean Expeditions lineup alongside returning culinary hosts. The sailings will operate aboard World Traveller, World Navigator and World Voyager.
Luedtke, a restaurateur and Food Network champion, will make her Atlas debut on an eight-night World Traveller voyage departing Las Palmas for Malaga on April 15, exploring the food traditions of the Canary Islands, Morocco and southern Spain. Giglio, a Food & Wine contributing editor, will serve as guest wine expert on the same ship’s nine-night Livorno-to-Dubrovnik departure on August 20.
“Anthony Giglio has an extraordinary ability to make wine approachable through the stories of the people and regions behind every bottle,” said James A. Rodriguez, president and CEO of Atlas Ocean Voyages.
The Epicurean program includes cooking demonstrations and the interactive Yachtsman Cook-Off, with market visits and vineyard experiences among its shoreside activities. The lineup announcement did not include starting fares.
Wine, chocolate and Mediterranean ports
Giglio’s itinerary includes calls at Bonifacio in Corsica, Porto Cervo in Sardinia, Giardini Naxos in Sicily and Kotor in Montenegro before reaching Dubrovnik. The wine program will span Tuscany, the two islands’ regional wines, Sicily’s volcanic growing conditions and Montenegro’s developing wine traditions.
His onboard sessions will combine tastings, discussions and food-pairing guidance, examining the influence of geography and local traditions on wine. Giglio, a wine educator, has written 11 books, including “Passport to Italian Wine” and the annual “Food & Wine Wine Guide.”
Pastry chef and master chocolatier Anna Wilamowska will join that departure, exploring connections between chocolate, desserts and wines from Italy and the Adriatic. Her training includes work in Michelin-starred restaurants and French pastry boutiques.
Wilamowska also has two earlier appearances scheduled: World Voyager’s April 6 sailing from Las Palmas to Seville, focused on Spanish and Moroccan confectionery, and World Traveller’s June 7 journey from Naples to Athens, examining Mediterranean sweets made with citrus, nuts and honey.
Julieta Davey will bring another confectionery-focused program to World Traveller’s seven-night Naples-to-Valletta departure on May 9. The voyage will visit southern Italy, Sicily and Malta, with attention to Sicilian pastries and the island’s chocolate traditions.
Returning chefs across the spring schedule
Chef Bobby Marcotte will sail aboard World Voyager on April 16 for a nine-night journey from Seville to Casablanca. His program will cover Andalusian and Moroccan cooking, including tapas, grilled meats, spice blends and slow-cooked tagines, as well as the region’s Moorish culinary influences.
Massimo Capra’s first two appearances will be aboard World Navigator: an April 17 expedition visiting the Canary Islands and Madeira, followed by an April 27 departure from Las Palmas to Lisbon. Those voyages will examine island-grown ingredients, seafood, Moroccan seasonings and Iberian cooking traditions.
Chef Philip “Ippy” Aiona will join consecutive World Traveller departures, sailing from Malaga to Nice on April 23 and from Nice to Naples on May 1. His programs will range from Moroccan and Spanish spices and cooking methods to the olive oils, seafood, herbs and regional dishes of the French and Italian Rivieras.
Martin Gimenez Castro will host World Navigator’s May 7 voyage from Lisbon to Bordeaux, focusing on Portuguese seafood, Galician shellfish and Basque pintxos. He will then join World Traveller for an 11-night roundtrip from Athens on June 27, visiting the Greek Islands and Turkish coast with a culinary focus on seafood, olive oil, citrus and herbs.
Capra’s third scheduled appearance will be an eight-night World Traveller sailing departing Monte Carlo for Lisbon on October 9. That program will explore the culinary traditions of the French Riviera, Spain, Morocco and Portugal.
