Voyager of the Seas Begins First Alaska Season From Seattle
The Seattle itineraries call at Juneau, Skagway, Sitka and Victoria, with one seven-night program adding scenic cruising at Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier.
Royal Caribbean International’s Voyager of the Seas has begun its first Alaska season after arriving at the Port of Seattle in May, adding seven-night cruises from a new Pacific Northwest homeport through early October. The deployment gives the 1999-built Voyager-class ship two weeklong Alaska programs from Seattle, including itineraries that pair Southeast Alaska ports with a Victoria call in British Columbia.
The move places Voyager of the Seas into a four-ship Royal Caribbean Alaska lineup this summer, alongside the Quantum-class Anthem of the Seas and Ovation of the Seas, plus the Radiance-class Serenade of the Seas. The program spans Seattle, Vancouver and Seward departures serving ports including Sitka, Skagway and Icy Strait Point.
Seven-night program from Seattle
The “Alaska Experience” itinerary operates roundtrip from Seattle with calls at Juneau, Skagway, Sitka and Victoria. The “Alaska Adventure” itinerary also runs for seven nights from Seattle, calling at Juneau, Skagway and Victoria and adding scenic cruising at Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier before returning to Washington.
Voyager of the Seas is a 137,276-gross-ton ship measuring about 1,020 feet in length, with published specifications listing 3,602 passengers at double occupancy and up to 4,000 at maximum occupancy. The ship carries roughly 1,180 to 1,200 crew, depending on configuration.
Overbooking offer on June 19 departure
The first Alaska season also produced an oversold sailing on Voyager of the Seas’ June 19 departure from Seattle. In a June 12 guest communication, Royal Caribbean asked booked passengers whether they had “flexible travel arrangements” and offered incentives for volunteers willing to shift plans.
Guests who accepted a change could receive a full cruise-fare refund, a 50% future cruise credit, the same or a similar stateroom category on another Alaska sailing and reimbursement for non-refundable, pre-purchased travel expenses. Royal Caribbean told volunteers they might not learn whether their offer had been accepted until June 18, one day before embarkation; guests who did not want to move were not required to volunteer.
Alternative sailings offered to affected guests included Voyager of the Seas departures from Seattle on September 18 and September 25, Anthem of the Seas sailings from Seattle on August 24 and August 31, and an August 28 Ovation of the Seas itinerary from Seward to Vancouver. Guests also had the option to cancel for a full refund and a 100% future cruise credit.
Post-Alaska deployment and 2027 lineup
After completing the Alaska season, Voyager of the Seas is scheduled to reposition to the West Coast for three- to eight-night cruises to the Mexican Riviera and Baja California. That deployment, operated alongside Ovation of the Seas, includes Puerto Vallarta, Ensenada, Catalina Island and Mazatlan, as well as overnight calls in Cabo San Lucas.
Voyager of the Seas is also scheduled to return to Seattle for a second Alaska summer in 2027. Royal Caribbean’s 2027 Alaska lineup will place Voyager alongside Quantum of the Seas, Serenade of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas.
