Swan Hellenic Names Mario Bounas Chief Commercial Officer

The move signals Swan Hellenic’s push to sharpen global distribution as luxury expedition cruising becomes more competitive and guest experience drives brand loyalty.

Swan Hellenic has appointed Mario Bounas as chief commercial officer and made a series of senior sales and guest-facing appointments across the UK, North America, Europe and the Gulf.

The reshuffle covers sales, reservations and guest relations roles. Swan Hellenic operates a three-ship Malta-flagged expedition fleet, SH Minerva, SH Vega and SH Diana, for cultural expedition cruising to polar and remote destinations.

Commercial leadership broadens across regions

Bounas said he had helped develop Swan Hellenic “from its earliest days” and described the CCO post as “both an honor and an exciting challenge.” He added: “I look forward to offering curious minds even more unique destinations and experiences.”

Andrea Zito, chief executive officer of Swan Hellenic, linked the appointments to the company’s growth and singled out Bounas as “one of the chief architects” of its guest experience.

Luke Clarke, who has served as sales director for the past three years, has been promoted to senior sales director for the UK, Ireland, Africa and India. Dan Anders, whose cruise industry background includes HX and Silversea, will support Clarke as business development executive for trade business in the UK and Ireland.

The company also added Goran Subasic to its reservations team after previous experience at Silversea. Kim Daplyn has been promoted to guest relations director after two years with Swan Hellenic. Kate Patterson-Green joins as a direct report in the global guest relations team, following hospitality industry experience at Hamilton Pyramid Europe.

In North America, Bill Spaeth has been promoted to general manager after three years with Swan Hellenic. Spaeth has 30 years of experience with ultraluxury and expedition cruise brands, including Scenic, Ponant and Paul Gauguin.

In Monaco, Nikolai Iablonskii has been appointed sales director for Europe. He joins the cruise company with high-end fashion experience, including seven years at Christian Dior.
