Star Princess Delays Seattle Alaska Sailing Departure to 4 P.M.
Star Princess is in its first Alaska season from Seattle, with capacity for 4,300 passengers at lower-berth occupancy and more than 2,100 cabins.
Princess Cruises has moved Star Princess’s Aug. 23, 2026 departure from Seattle back by one hour, shifting the Alaska sailing from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. PDT. The 2025-built, about 177,800-gross-ton ship will still operate the planned seven-night Inside Passage itinerary, with no additional port changes announced.
The change falls on a day when Star Princess is scheduled at the Port of Seattle alongside Holland America Line’s Noordam and Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Encore. Both Star Princess and Noordam had originally been scheduled for 3 p.m. departures.
“Due to operational considerations, Star Princess will now depart Seattle, Washington at 4:00 PM on Sunday, August 23,” Princess told booked guests. The notice did not identify the specific operational issue behind the change.
Alaska call sequence remains intact
The cruise remains scheduled to call at Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway and Victoria, British Columbia, with scenic cruising in Endicott Arm and at Dawes Glacier. Ketchikan remains the first port call, with arrival scheduled for 6 a.m. on Aug. 25.
Seattle is roughly 650 nautical miles from Ketchikan by the Inside Passage route. With the revised 4 p.m. departure, Star Princess has about 37 hours before the scheduled Ketchikan arrival; at 22 knots, the ship can cover that distance in about 30 hours.
Star Princess continues first Alaska deployment
Star Princess is operating its first Alaska season from Seattle after entering service in 2025. The ship carries 4,300 passengers at lower-berth occupancy and up to 5,189 at maximum capacity, with more than 2,100 guest cabins.
The ship is scheduled to continue seven-night Seattle-based Alaska sailings through the end of September. Princess has not said whether any other departures in that remaining program will receive similar time changes.
