Star Princess Carries 90,000 Guests in First Alaska Season

In April 2027, the 4,300-lower-berth Star Princess is scheduled for a Panama Canal voyage before returning to Seattle for a second Alaska summer.

Star Princess has completed its first year with Princess Cruises after carrying approximately 90,000 guests during its inaugural Alaska season. Delivered on September 26, 2025, the LNG-powered vessel is returning to Port Everglades for its second Florida winter deployment in 2026-27.

The 4,300-lower-berth ship joined Princess’ largest-ever Alaska lineup, completing more than 20 departures before the season ended in late September. Its weeklong cruises operated roundtrip from Seattle, with Juneau and Ketchikan among the destinations visited.

Starting in late October, the Florida schedule comprises four- to seven-night voyages to the Caribbean and the Bahamas. The shorter departures expand the range of cruise lengths beyond the seven-night Caribbean itineraries offered during the ship’s first winter operating from Fort Lauderdale.

Built by Fincantieri at its Monfalcone shipyard in Italy, the 177,800-gross-ton Star Princess is the second Sphere-class vessel and shares its design with Sun Princess.

The vessel welcomed its first passengers on October 4, 2025, just over a week after delivery. Its inaugural sailing was an 11-night Western Mediterranean cruise roundtrip from Barcelona, calling at destinations in France, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom.

Further Mediterranean departures followed before the ship made its first Atlantic crossing in early November. Port Everglades then became the base for its U.S. debut and initial Caribbean program until it repositioned to the West Coast for Alaska.

Camila and Matthew McConaughey served as the ship’s godparents at a christening ceremony on November 7, 2025, shortly after its maiden Fort Lauderdale visit. Singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow also performed at the event.

Princess did not include an executive statement in the first-year update.

In April 2027, Star Princess is scheduled to undertake a Panama Canal voyage. The ship will then return to Seattle for its second summer season in Alaska.
