Silversea Launches S.A.L.T. Culinary Voyages in Western Europe

Grape Harvest includes a chef-led nine-course dinner at La Dame and a six-course lunch built around foraged wild mushrooms and fresh truffles.

Silversea has introduced its first dedicated S.A.L.T. Culinary Voyages collection, opening with seven western European sailings on Silver Dawn and Silver Spirit during the autumn harvest period. The debut program, called Grape Harvest, covers Portugal, Spain, France and the United Kingdom and pairs expanded onboard food-and-wine programming with culinary shore experiences.

S.A.L.T. is Silversea’s Sea And Land Taste platform. For the first collection, the line is building the sailings around chefs, producers, wine regions and host-led experiences tied to the European harvest season.

Bert Hernandez, president of Silversea, said the collection gives guests “direct access to the people and places that define a region’s food culture.” He cited examples including “a countess opening her kitchen in northern Portugal” and “a chef teaching her own family recipes at home in Normandy.”

Grape Harvest starts with wine, foraging and regional cooking

All Grape Harvest voyages will carry an expanded onboard culinary schedule. The program includes a chef-led nine-course dinner at La Dame, regional wine tastings, a premium Bordeaux tasting led by the ship’s head sommelier, premium Champagne service, Cognac and Armagnac tastings, a hands-on mixology session, a live masterclass with the executive chef and a guided French cheese-and-wine pairing.

Silversea is also adding an exclusive six-course lunch at La Dame built around foraged ingredients, including wild mushrooms and fresh truffles. Other shipboard elements include autumn-themed cocktails and caviar on embarkation day, an Autumn Harvest Grand Brunch and a Harvest Cruise Aperitivo.

Shore experiences add chefs, chateaux and producers

Ashore, the S.A.L.T. Experiences named for the debut collection include a private port-blending session in the Douro Valley, a Michelin-chef-led lunch at Chateau du Prince Noir in Bordeaux and a truffle hunt with lunch at Chateau Royal de Cazeneuve.

Other planned outings include a behind-the-scenes visit to a working kitchen with Chef Vivien Durand, a txakoli winery tasting at the Michelin-starred Garena in Basque Country, a cooking experience with Chef Brigitte and a guided tasting at Chateau Lafaurie-Peyraguey.

How the collection fits within S.A.L.T.

S.A.L.T. already combines destination-driven dining, regional drinks, small-group culinary classes and food-focused shore excursions. Silver Dawn was one of the earlier ships with the full S.A.L.T. experience, and Silver Spirit received the program after refurbishment.

Silversea did not include starting fares or individual departure dates beyond the autumn harvest-season window in the launch details. Grape Harvest is the only chapter named so far for the S.A.L.T. Culinary Voyages collection.
