TUI River Cruises Launches Danube Sailing for Hungarian Grand Prix

TUI Maya will overnight in Bratislava and Vienna before returning to Budapest for two nights, while a guest speaker offers racing insights during the sailing.

TUI River Cruises is launching its first racing-themed sailing, pairing a seven-night Danube itinerary with seated grandstand tickets for all three days of the Hungarian Grand Prix. The From River to Racetrack cruise departs on 26 July 2027 aboard the adults-only TUI Maya.

Fares start at £2,299 per person, including return flights and transfers to the Hungaroring circuit. Passengers will use the ship as their accommodation throughout the race weekend.

The itinerary starts in Budapest before calling overnight at Bratislava, Slovakia, and Vienna, Austria. TUI Maya then returns to the Hungarian capital for a two-night stay, arriving in time for the opening day of the race weekend on Friday 30 July.

Track access covers Friday practice, Saturday qualifying and Sunday’s Grand Prix. A guest speaker will also join the sailing to offer insights into the sport.

“Travel is increasingly being shaped by the experiences people want to have,” said Katy Berzins, head of river cruise at TUI River Cruises, “with major sporting and live events becoming a real reason to visit a destination.”

Berzins said customers would unpack only once.

Dining and onboard facilities

Beyond the flights and race arrangements, the package includes three meals daily, drinks with meals, Wi-Fi, tips and service charges.

TUI Maya has two dining venues: Verdastro restaurant and the more casual Bistro. Menus change regularly and include dishes inspired by the destinations visited along the river.

The ship also has two lounges serving coffee and cocktails, plus a wellness area with a whirlpool and sauna. Passengers can use the top deck for sightseeing or take part in activities including giant Connect 4 and mini-golf.

Other Grand Prix cruise programmes

MSC Cruises and MSC-owned Explora Journeys both sponsor Grand Prix events.

Explora Journeys plans to dock just 150 metres from the Monaco Grand Prix during its race visit. Windstar’s Wind Spirit is scheduled to stay in Nice for the Monaco race weekend, with passengers transported to the circuit.
