Scenic Eclipse II Makes Maiden Call in Hamburg
The 228-passenger yacht overnighted at HafenCity Cruise Terminal during a seven-country sailing that included a transit of the Kiel Canal.
Scenic Eclipse II made its maiden call at Hamburg on Aug. 3, 2026, bringing a Scenic Cruises vessel to the German port for the first time. The 228-passenger yacht spent the night at the HafenCity Cruise Terminal during a 10-night voyage from Tilbury to Stockholm.
Hamburg handled 1,416,715 cruise passengers across 295 ship calls in 2025. Traffic was up nearly 9% from 1,301,295 in 2024.
“We’re excited to welcome the Scenic Eclipse II to Hamburg for the very first time,” Cruise Gate Hamburg said in a social media update. The port organization said the call supported Hamburg’s position as a destination for luxury and expedition cruising.
A seven-country Northern Europe itinerary
Launched in 2023, Scenic Eclipse II is a Polar Class 6 expedition yacht with 114 suites. The 168-meter vessel carries 176 crew and is one of two Scenic discovery yachts currently in service.
The open-jaw sailing covered destinations in the United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Poland, Finland and Sweden. Calls included Ostend, Rügen Island, Copenhagen, Gdynia, Visby and Mariehamn, along with a transit of the Kiel Canal.
After leaving Hamburg, the ship continued toward Stockholm, where the itinerary concluded with another overnight stay. Cruise Gate Hamburg thanked Scenic’s shoreside team, guests and crew following the vessel’s departure.
Hamburg’s maiden-call schedule continues
Scenic Eclipse II’s arrival followed the maiden Hamburg call of Princess Cruises’ Majestic Princess in July. Port and ship representatives held a traditional plaque exchange aboard the Princess vessel during that visit.
Hamburg serves cruise traffic through its HafenCity, Altona and Steinwerder terminals. The 2,770-passenger Valiant Lady is due at Altona Cruise Terminal on Aug. 24 for Virgin Voyages’ first Hamburg call.
