Regent Seven Seas to Cut Suites in Explorer-Class Redesigns

Regent Seven Seas Cruises will redesign accommodations on Seven Seas Splendor, Seven Seas Explorer and Seven Seas Grandeur during scheduled drydocks in late 2027 and 2028, cutting each ship’s maximum suite count to 344 from 373. The program expands Veranda Suites, adds a Horizon Penthouse Suite category and installs three more Distinctive Suites on each Explorer-class ship.

Regent introduced the three Explorer-class ships in 2016, 2020 and 2023. The roughly 55,254-gt, Fincantieri-built ships are all-suite and all-balcony.

“By reducing suite inventory, expanding accommodations and introducing new suite categories, we are creating an even more spacious experience at sea,” said Wesley D’Silva, president of Regent Seven Seas Cruises.

Suite count falls as Veranda Suites expand

Veranda Suites will increase from 307 square feet to between 415 and 464 square feet. Regent said the redesigned Veranda Suites, together with Deluxe Veranda Suites aboard its Prestige-class ships, will be the largest entry-level suites in the ultra-luxury cruise industry.

Each redesigned Veranda Suite is planned with a walk-in closet, two vanity areas and a larger balcony.

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings chairman and CEO John Chidsey addressed the redesign on the company’s earnings call. “Regent will offer the largest entry-level suites in the luxury cruise industry, while also improving two important luxury metrics, space ratios and guest-to-crew ratios,” Chidsey said.

Horizon Penthouse concept moves beyond Prestige

The new Horizon Penthouse Suites, scheduled to debut on Seven Seas Prestige in December 2026, will be added to the Explorer-class ships during their drydocks. The suites will range from 616 to 722 square feet and include oversized balconies, a bedroom, a full bathroom suite and a living area.

Regent will also add three Distinctive Suites per ship, ranging from 821 to 918 square feet. The ship-specific Explorer Suite, Splendor Suite and Grandeur Suite accommodations are planned with a king-size Elite Slumber Bed, separate sitting and dining space, one-and-a-half marble-and-stone-appointed bathrooms and a large private balcony.

Amenities in the added Distinctive Suites will include a personal butler, in-suite caviar service, fresh orchid arrangements, cashmere blankets and a selection of pillow styles.

Drydock sequence runs through October 2028

Seven Seas Splendor is first. Its drydock is scheduled for November 2027, with Seven Seas Explorer following in April 2028 and Seven Seas Grandeur in October 2028.
