Nassau Cruise Port Sets Single-Day Record With 33,254 Passengers

The redevelopment raised Nassau’s daily passenger capacity from roughly twenty thousand to about thirty-three thousand, with room for six full-size ships at once.

Nassau Cruise Port handled 33,254 cruise passengers on June 8, 2026, setting a single-day passenger record and surpassing the 30,538-passenger high reached on March 11, 2025. The traffic came from six ships representing Royal Caribbean International, Carnival Cruise Line, Princess Cruises and Disney Cruise Line.

The 2,716-passenger increase was about 8.9 percent over the prior record and put Nassau just beyond the daily-capacity range created by its redevelopment. Nassau handled 6,070,532 cruise passengers in 2025. No cruise port in the world handled more.

Six-ship lineup filled the rebuilt port

The June 8 lineup comprised Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas; Carnival’s Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration; Princess Cruises’ Caribbean Princess; and Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Fantasy. Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas were the largest ships on the call list.

Neither of Royal Caribbean’s in-service Icon-class ships, Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas, was among the six calls; each carries up to 7,600 guests at maximum capacity.

Port ties record to destination spending

“The 33,000-passenger mark was an important benchmark for us,” said Mike Maura Jr., CEO and director of Nassau Cruise Port. He said reaching 33,254 guests in one day “reflects the strength of Nassau as a cruise destination” and the confidence of the port’s cruise line partners.

“High-performing cruise days support retailers, restaurants, tour operators, transportation providers, attractions, artisans, entertainers and a wide range of other Bahamian businesses,” Maura said.

Redevelopment capacity is now being used at scale

The port’s rebuilt daily passenger capacity is about 33,000, up from roughly 20,000 before the redevelopment. Its berth configuration allows up to six full-size cruise ships at the same time and can accommodate three Oasis- or Icon-class vessels simultaneously.

Nassau Cruise Port attributed the new high to continued cruise tourism growth and investment in port capacity and operational efficiency. The port did not announce a further capacity-expansion timeline in connection with the record.
