MSC Poesia Drops Endicott Arm From Three 2026 Alaska Sailings
MSC Poesia completed its inaugural Alaska season on September 28 before departing Seattle on a 19-night repositioning voyage to Miami via the Panama Canal.
MSC’s Endicott Arm Cuts Needed a Better Explanation
MSC removed Endicott Arm scenic cruising from its final three Alaska departures of 2026. For passengers on the September 14 sailing, the explanation arrived in a September 1 email citing “seasonal operational considerations.” That is a thin answer for removing a distinct part of an Alaska itinerary.
The replacement had real value: six additional hours in Juneau. I’d give MSC credit for making that time useful rather than simply leaving a hole in the schedule. But a longer port visit and scenic cruising are different experiences. Offering one in place of the other does not make the reason for the change unimportant.
The cuts affected MSC Poesia’s September 7, 14 and 21 departures. In the email to passengers on the middle sailing, MSC did not identify the specific operational constraint behind the decision.
For that departure, Juneau arrival moved from 2 p.m. to 8 a.m., while the 10 p.m. departure stayed in place. That gave passengers a full day and evening ashore. Calls at Ketchikan, Icy Strait Point and Victoria, British Columbia, were unchanged.
Cruise Line Agencies of Alaska also listed Juneau arrivals six hours earlier than originally scheduled for the other two affected sailings, covering the ship’s September 10 and September 25 visits.
That is a practical response to an itinerary disruption. The communication was less convincing. “Seasonal” identifies the time of year, but it tells passengers little about what actually prevented the ship from making the planned scenic passage.
Poesia’s first Alaska season
MSC Cruises completed its inaugural Alaska season on September 28, 2026, when MSC Poesia finished its final regional sailing. The program had begun in early May, after the ship arrived from a European refit, with seven-night roundtrip cruises from Seattle.
The season’s itineraries included Juneau, Ketchikan, Sitka, Icy Strait Point and Victoria, along with scenic cruising in Endicott Arm.
Miami next, via the Panama Canal
After the final Alaska sailing, MSC Poesia left Seattle on a 19-night repositioning cruise to Miami. The itinerary includes Los Angeles, San Diego, Cabo San Lucas in Mexico and Puntarenas in Costa Rica before transiting the Panama Canal. Caribbean-side calls include Colon, Panama, and Cartagena de Indias, Colombia.
For winter 2026-27, the ship will operate five- to 11-night cruises from Miami across the Western, Eastern and Southern Caribbean. Scheduled destinations include Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao, as well as Puerto Limon in Costa Rica, Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic and Montego Bay in Jamaica.
The winter program will conclude in early April 2027 with an 18-night repositioning voyage through the Panama Canal to the West Coast. MSC Poesia is scheduled to return to Alaska in both 2027 and 2028, with Caribbean cruises from PortMiami between those seasons.
Those return seasons make the missing explanation more consequential. Passengers considering a late-season Alaska booking deserve to know whether the Endicott Arm cuts were a one-season adjustment or a sign of a limitation that could affect future itineraries. “Seasonal operational considerations” leaves that question unanswered.
