Marella Cruises Adds Nine Mediterranean Shore Excursions
Guests sailing on Marella Discovery 2 can book the additions before departure through Cruise Control or after embarkation at the Destinations Services desk.
Marella Cruises said May 30 that it has expanded its Mediterranean shore excursion program with nine new offerings, including a tuk-tuk tour of Olbia in Sardinia and a food tour in Athens. The additions are designed for guests sailing this summer from Palma, Majorca, on Marella Discovery 2.
The announcement adds paid shore product to Marella’s Greece and Italy program, with the three priced examples ranging from £64 to £144 per adult before sailing. The new tours include options tied to calls at Olbia, Naples and Piraeus.
Chris Hackney, chief executive officer of Marella Cruises, said the line is adding tours to help customers experience destinations “more meaningfully.” The expanded program offers “greater choice” in ports across Greece and Italy, he said.
The Olbia tour, The Essence of Olbia by Tuk-Tuk, takes guests through the historic center and to landmarks including the granite-built Basilica of San Simplicio, the Church of San Paolo and Parco Fausto Noce. Marella listed the pre-booked price at £68 for adults and £68 for children.
From Naples, Pompeii, Ravello & Amalfi - Scenic Minivan Tour covers Pompeii, Ravello and Amalfi in a small-group minivan itinerary. The pre-booked price is £144 per adult and £104 per child.
For Piraeus calls, A Taste of Athens begins with a city drive into Athens and continues with a walking and tasting element in Plaka. The food component includes Greek pies, Greek coffee, loukoumi and souvlaki; pre-booked pricing is £64 per adult and £34 per child.
Marella also listed a seven-night Treasures of the Mediterranean cruise from Palma on an all-inclusive basis with TUI Airways, starting at £1,498 per person.
The new excursions are available before departure through Cruise Control and after embarkation at the Destinations Services desk.
