Lindblad Expeditions Expands 2028-29 Voyages in Latin America and Egypt

In Egypt, Passage Through Egypt Aboard Oberoi Philae links Cairo and Abu Simbel, with dedicated Egyptologists interpreting 5,000 years of history.

National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions has released the second phase of its 2028-29 deployment, expanding its program in Latin America and Egypt. The additions include a new 15-day expedition combining Costa Rica and Panama, along with longer Galapagos options and departures in Baja California and the Amazon.

The release follows an initial deployment announcement in August. The Galapagos program comprises eight itineraries lasting seven to 17 days across four vessels. The release did not include starting fares.

“We're constantly looking for ways to give guests more depth, more access and more opportunities to explore actively,” said Trey Byus, chief expedition officer at Lindblad Expeditions.

Longer journeys in Central America and the Galapagos

The new “Epic Costa Rica and Panama” itinerary combines Costa Rica’s Pacific wilderness and Guanacaste highlands with Panama’s rainforests, Pearl Islands and Canal. An expanded eight-day Guanacaste itinerary will provide additional time for the region’s landscapes, wildlife and cultural activities.

Galapagos departures will operate aboard National Geographic Endeavour II, National Geographic Islander II, National Geographic Gemini and National Geographic Delfina. The program includes active exploration, wildlife encounters and snorkeling.

The “Peru and Galapagos Escape” will connect land touring with an island expedition in 2029. Guests will visit Cusco, the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu before continuing to the Galapagos.

Baja California, the Amazon and Egypt

In Baja California, National Geographic Quest will operate “Baja California Discovery: Exploring Mexico’s Gulf of California.” The itinerary examines the connections between the region’s desert and marine environments.

A separate itinerary, “Baja California: Among the Great Whales,” centers on seasonal encounters with gray whales in the lagoons. The regional program also includes a festive-season departure, “Baja California Holiday: A Living Sea and Desert Isles.”

The Amazon schedule extends from November 2028 through October 2029. “Upper Amazon: A River Expedition” will explore the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve aboard Delfin II and Delfin III, with opportunities to travel by skiff and kayak.

In Egypt, “Passage Through Egypt Aboard Oberoi Philae” links Cairo and Abu Simbel. Dedicated Egyptologists will accompany the itinerary, interpreting sites spanning 5,000 years of Egyptian history.
