Holland America Adds Flåm, Hellesylt to 2027 Norway Cruises

Flåm lists 122 cruise calls planned for 2027 and has a year-round population of about 350 to 450 people, with visitors advised to book tours ahead.

Holland America Line has opened bookings on five revised 2027 Norway cruises aboard MS Rotterdam, the line’s newest Pinnacle-class ship, adding Flåm and Hellesylt to broaden fjord access on seven-day Northern Europe sailings. The updated departures, scheduled between May 30 and Aug. 8, 2027, include access to the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord area and Storfjorden, the approach to the Geirangerfjord region.

The changes place five Rotterdam departures into two Norway patterns during Holland America’s 2027 Northern Europe season. The line plans to deploy Rotterdam, Nieuw Statendam and Zuiderdam across the region that year, with programs covering Norway, Iceland, Greenland, the British Isles, Scandinavia and the Baltic.

“Northern Europe continues to be one of the most sought-after regions we sail, with fjord cruising ranking among the most desired experiences for our guests,” said Paul Grigsby, vice president of deployment and revenue planning for Holland America Line.

Three departures, on May 30, June 27 and Aug. 1, 2027, will call at Oslo, Kristiansand, Sandnes for Stavanger and Flåm, with scenic cruising through Sognefjord and Oslofjord.

The July 25 and Aug. 8 departures will call at Eidfjord, Hellesylt, Ålesund and Bergen, with scenic cruising in Hardangerfjord and Storfjorden. Grigsby said the additions give guests “even more opportunities” to experience the region’s scenery, history and landscapes.

Inside Flåm and Hellesylt

Flåm operates with a 5,000-passenger cap in port at one time and lists 122 cruise calls planned for 2027, after 99 scheduled calls in 2026. The village has a year-round population of about 350 to 450 people, and local transport capacity is limited, with visitors advised to book tours in advance.

Hellesylt’s cruise operations center on a 143-meter pier with direct access into the village. The port is used for cruise calls, not homeport operations, and local transport links include ferries toward Geiranger, about 20 kilometers away.

The West Norwegian Fjords UNESCO World Heritage site consists of two separate fjord areas: Geirangerfjord and Nærøyfjord. The areas were inscribed in 2005 and are about 120 kilometers apart in southwestern Norway.

The Norway revisions follow Holland America’s opening of its 2027-28 Caribbean season, scheduled from October 2027 through March 2028. Holland America did not announce starting fares.
