Carnival Opens Sales for 144 Long Beach Cruises in 2028-29
Carnival began Long Beach operations in 2003, and the expanded geodesic dome terminal beside the Queen Mary reopened with Carnival Splendor in February 2018.
Carnival Cruise Line opened sales Aug. 27 for 144 Long Beach departures aboard Carnival Radiance and Carnival Panorama during the 2028-29 season. The three- to eight-day cruises will operate from May 2028 through April 2029, serving Baja California and Mexican Riviera ports. Carnival says it carries more passengers from Long Beach than any other cruise line.
Baja and Mexican Riviera itineraries
Carnival Radiance, which sailed as Carnival Victory until a 2021 transformation, will continue the shorter portion of the program. Three-day cruises will visit Ensenada, while four-day itineraries will add Catalina Island. A five-day holiday departure on Dec. 21, 2028, will call at Catalina Island, Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada.
Carnival Panorama will operate six-day cruises with two days in Cabo San Lucas and a call at Ensenada. Its eight-day itinerary will visit Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, La Paz and Cabo San Lucas.
Published starting fares were $321 for Carnival Radiance and $439 for Carnival Panorama when the schedule opened. Carnival’s announcement did not include an executive statement.
How Carnival grew into the Long Beach dome
Carnival began cruise operations at Long Beach in 2003. The terminal, housed in the geodesic dome beside the Queen Mary, was expanded to use the full structure in 2017 and 2018, improving passenger flow and allowing it to handle larger vessels. The renovated facility reopened with Carnival Splendor in February 2018.
What changes at Long Beach before the new season
Carnival Firenze, which joined the Long Beach operation in 2024, is scheduled to leave in early 2027 and reposition to the East Coast through South America before operating from Miami and New York.
Royal Caribbean International also cancelled planned 2027 Los Angeles departures for Navigator of the Seas and Ovation of the Seas as the company adjusted deployments for an Asia-Pacific expansion. The line offered affected passengers refunds and alternative sailings.
Carnival Legend will sail from Long Beach between October 2027 and April 2028. The ship is scheduled to operate six- to 14-night cruises to Hawaii and Mexico before the new season begins.
