Carnival Corporation Named a Best Employer for Women by Forbes
Daniela Gargiulo joined Carnival Cruise Line as a deck cadet in 2013 and now oversees marine operations, safety and crew leadership aboard Carnival Adventure.
Carnival Corporation has been named to Forbes’ 2026 list of America’s Best Employers for Women. The list includes 700 U.S. companies. The ninth annual ranking was based on an independent survey of more than 146,000 women working for employers with at least 1,000 U.S. employees.
The selection follows more than 4 million employer evaluations collected over three years. Carnival Corporation operates more than 90 ships across its cruise brands and has more than 160,000 employees from nearly 150 countries.
Survey assessed workplace policies and representation
Respondents rated their employers on criteria including workplace culture and atmosphere, representation, parental leave and their willingness to recommend the company. The ranking also considered the proportion of women serving in executive and board positions.
“This recognition is especially meaningful because it reflects the experiences and contributions of women across our company,” said Bettina Deynes, Carnival Corporation’s global chief human resources officer.
Deynes said the company intends to continue expanding career development opportunities and workplace support as it seeks to become the preferred employer in the hospitality, travel and leisure sectors.
Carnival appoints first female staff captain
The Forbes announcement followed Carnival Cruise Line’s Aug. 5 appointment of Daniela Gargiulo as the first female staff captain in the line’s global fleet. Captain Francesco Bencivenga welcomed her during a ceremony aboard Carnival Adventure as the ship returned to Sydney from the South Pacific.
Gargiulo joined Carnival Cruise Line as a deck cadet in 2013 after enrolling in a nautical school in Italy at age 14. She moved to Carnival Adventure last year and replaced outgoing Staff Captain Giovanni Scotto Di Perrotolo.
“Daniela is my second in charge, overseeing marine operations, safety and crew leadership among many other roles,” Bencivenga said.
Gargiulo will continue aboard Carnival Adventure, which sails year-round from Sydney. “I’m especially excited to be starting this new chapter in my career onboard Carnival Adventure in Australia,” she said.
