Windstar Opens 2028 Alaska Bookings for Star Seeker

Star Seeker, Windstar's first newbuild in more than three decades, carries two hundred twenty-four guests, with guides leading kayak and Zodiac outings.

Windstar Cruises has opened bookings for Star Seeker’s 2028 Alaska season, with 27 departures across six itineraries scheduled from May through August. The sales launch came days after the 224-guest ship began its first Alaska deployment on May 14, 2026.

The program combines seven-day Southeast Alaska cruises, longer Vancouver-Seward sailings, Denali cruise tours and extended Star Collector voyages linking Alaska with Japan. Star Seeker is Windstar’s first newbuild in more than three decades. The ship was christened in Miami earlier this year.

“What excites me most is the access Star Seeker allows — navigating deep into fjords, getting right up to glaciers, and connecting with smaller communities along the way,” said Tom Schofield, captain of Star Seeker.

Windstar is offering an Early Booking Offer for the 2028 Alaska departures, with an additional five percent savings available to guests who pay in full at the time of booking through the line’s “Pay Now, Save More” promotion. Windstar did not publish starting fares for the 2028 program.

Six itineraries across Alaska and the Pacific

The seven-day Scenic Alaska itinerary sails between Vancouver, British Columbia, and Juneau, Alaska, in both directions. Calls include Sitka, Wrangell and Ketchikan, with scenic cruising at Dawes Glacier in Endicott Arm.

For longer coastal sailings, Alaskan Splendors operates 10- and 11-day voyages between Vancouver and Seward, Alaska, or the reverse. The route includes Misty Fjords, Wrangell, Sitka, Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier, Haines, Juneau and Kenai Fjords National Park.

Windstar’s Alaska land extensions include the Alaskan Explorations & Denali Cruise Tour, which pairs four inland touring days with 10-, 11- or 12-night cruises between Vancouver and Seward. The program includes wildlife viewing, riverboat excursions and rail journeys. A separate 11-day Alaskan Coastal Adventures & Denali Discovery Cruise Tour sails between Juneau and Vancouver and continues inland to Talkeetna, Denali and Fairbanks with included tours.

The two Star Collector itineraries extend the Alaska season into transpacific sailings. Alaska Discovery & Pacific Crossing is a 24-day voyage between Vancouver and Tokyo, while Alaska Adventures & Wonders of Japan is a 33-day sailing offered in May and August between Vancouver and either Tokyo or Osaka.

Aboard Star Seeker

The 431-foot, 9,315-GT Star Seeker carries 224 passengers in 112 suites, with 135 crew. Most accommodations have either a private veranda or a floor-to-ceiling infinity window, and the ship has open deck space positioned for glacier viewing.

Windstar said its Alaska program will include Signature Expeditions launching directly from the ship, with guided kayak and Zodiac outings in inlets, along glacial shorelines and in wildlife areas. Expedition guides sail onboard throughout each voyage, and the line is also adding enrichment speakers, musicians and dancers tied to Alaska’s culture and history.

Onboard dining for the Alaska season will use regional ingredients including salmon, venison, crab, halibut, beer, honey and jams. Windstar, the official cruise line of the James Beard Foundation, also named Basil + Bamboo among the dining venues available on Star Seeker.

Star Seeker joined Windstar in December 2025, ahead of the planned December 2026 debut of Star Explorer. Windstar says Star Explorer will expand the fleet to eight yachts accommodating 150 to 350 guests, while a two-phase redesign of the line’s Wind Class sailing yachts is scheduled to be completed by 2027.

For travelers seeking earlier Alaska departures, Windstar is also selling 2026 and 2027 sailings on Star Seeker. The stated booking incentive for the 2028 Alaska program expires June 30, 2026.
