Villa Vie to Unveil Legacy Residential Cruise Ship for 2029
The Legacy Bridge Program is limited to twenty-four new ownership purchases completed by September 30, 2026, with immediate Odyssey residency before the move.
Villa Vie Residences will unveil Legacy, its second residential cruise ship, during Villa Vie Odyssey’s two-year “Sailaversary” event, with the new vessel expected to enter service in early 2029. Odyssey has sold more than 85% of its available residences.
Villa Vie said comparable residences aboard Legacy are expected to be about 50% larger, while ownership pricing and monthly maintenance are anticipated to average about 30% above Odyssey levels.
“When we launched Odyssey, we set out to prove that residential cruising wasn’t just possible — it was sustainable,” said Mike Petterson, founder of Villa Vie Residences. “Legacy is the natural evolution of everything we’ve learned from our residents and operations around the world.”
Bridge program gives 24 buyers a path onto both ships
Villa Vie is introducing a Legacy Bridge Program for prospective residents who want access to Legacy but do not want to wait for the 2029 entry into service. The program will be limited to 24 positions, tied by the company to Odyssey’s 24 months of continuous operation.
The offer is available to the first 24 new ownership purchases completed on or before Sept. 30, 2026. Participants receive immediate residency aboard Odyssey, a guaranteed right to move into a comparable residence aboard Legacy when it enters service, no additional purchase price for the transition and Odyssey maintenance rates aboard Legacy, despite the higher maintenance pricing anticipated for the new ship.
Villa Vie said prospective buyers have shown interest in the new ship but are hesitant to defer nearly three years of travel while waiting for it to begin operating.
Endless Horizons rights will extend to Legacy
Villa Vie also said current and future participants in its Endless Horizons lifetime residency program will receive permanent residency rights aboard Legacy once the vessel enters service. The company said those rights will carry across both Odyssey and Legacy without an added purchase price, upgrade fee or transition cost. Endless Horizons was originally introduced at $349,999 as a one-time purchase for permanent residential cruising.
One ship in service, few details on the next
Odyssey is Villa Vie’s sole operating ship. The former Braemar is a 1993-built, 24,344-GT vessel with 485 cabins and about 924 berths, and was acquired from Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines before being converted into Villa Vie’s first residential cruise ship.
Villa Vie has not said whether Legacy will come from a newbuilding order or a secondhand acquisition. The company also has not released the new vessel’s specifications, final accommodation mix or itinerary program.
Petterson said the company’s objective is “to build a fleet that gives residents more choice while rewarding those who believed in this vision early.”
Villa Vie said it will begin a Road to Legacy campaign with teaser imagery, behind-the-scenes updates and a countdown to the anniversary unveiling. Detailed renderings, amenities, itineraries and ownership opportunities are scheduled for release at that event.
