Travelmarvel Returns to Nile Cruising With Sirius
The ship’s name follows Travelmarvel’s star-and-constellation convention: Sirius is the brightest star in the night sky and has associations with ancient Egyptian astronomy.
Travelmarvel has resumed Nile River cruising with the first voyage of Travelmarvel Sirius, a 124-passenger ship built for the Egyptian program. The vessel, launched in 2026, departed Luxor after guests began their journey in Cairo and continued to Aswan.
The deployment returns the Australian brand to Egypt after about a decade. APT Travel Group is targeting the new product at American travelers while also offering Sirius itineraries in the UK market.
Egyptology-led itinerary
“Egypt has always held a magnetic pull for Americans, with a history spanning more than 3,000 years that continues to captivate travelers today,” said David Cox, CEO of The APT Travel Group. Cox said Travelmarvel had designed Sirius around guided destination experiences, contemporary accommodations and the brand’s pricing model.
The maiden voyage included Karnak Temple, the Valley of the Kings and Queens, Abu Simbel and Philae Temple. Travelmarvel’s Nile program also includes the Grand Egyptian Museum, while shore excursions are led by tour directors with Egyptology qualifications.
Passengers and crew attended a sail-away event at the start of the inaugural cruise. Onboard programming includes entertainment drawing on Egyptian culture, along with several dining venues and a sun deck with a swimming pool.
Sirius carries 124 passengers and 75 crew
Sirius has 62 cabins and a crew of 75. Deluxe cabins, the ship’s most common category, measure about 236 square feet, while premium staterooms are approximately 290 square feet and Pharaoh Suites measure about 409 square feet. Cabins have large picture windows but no balconies.
The ship’s interiors draw on Egyptian history and culture. Its name continues Travelmarvel’s convention of naming vessels for stars and constellations: Sirius is the brightest star in the night sky and has associations with ancient Egyptian astronomy.
Sales extend through 2028
For the UK market, Travelmarvel’s 2027 program includes a 10-night Treasures of Egypt and the Nile package priced from £2,995 per person. The Cairo round trip combines three hotel nights with a seven-night Sirius cruise and includes return flights from London, onboard meals, selected drinks and excursions. APT Travel Group included a cabin upgrade in its Worldwide 2027 Sale.
Travelmarvel has also opened Sirius departures in 2028 for booking by American travelers.
