SeaDream III Reservations Open Ahead of 2029 Debut

SeaDream Yacht Club will introduce the 16,500-gross-ton SeaDream III in July 2029, adding a 230-guest vessel to its two-ship fleet. The yacht is in the engineering phase and will be built by China Merchants Cruise Shipbuilding in coordination with European engineering and technical suppliers.

The 151-meter vessel will carry approximately 200 crew and more than double the guest capacity of SeaDream I and SeaDream II. Its first 24 months are scheduled to cover six continents, 73 countries and 364 ports, followed by SeaDream’s first world cruise in 2031.

Newbuild expands SeaDream’s onboard capacity

SeaDream III will have accommodations across five decks, including suites, Commodore staterooms and connecting configurations. Balconies will be available on four accommodation decks. Twenty staterooms will not have one.

The upper decks will include a separate pool area and indoor and outdoor spaces for dining and gatherings. Three watersports platforms are planned for direct sea access, while the spa, fitness and wellness facilities will be larger than those aboard the existing vessels.

“Her size will allow her to reach distinctive harbors and sail globally while maintaining the highly personalized experience our guests expect,” Atle Brynestad, founder and owner of SeaDream Yacht Club, said.

At 4,333 gross tons apiece, SeaDream I and SeaDream II each accommodate 112 guests with crews of about 95. The vessels entered service in 1984 and 1985 as SeaGoddess I and SeaGoddess II before Brynestad acquired them in 2001. SeaDream I was most recently refurbished in 2023, followed by SeaDream II in 2024.

The project revives SeaDream’s newbuild plans after an earlier order was abandoned. In March 2019, the company reached an agreement with Damen for a 155-meter Polar 6 vessel scheduled to enter service in September 2021, but canceled the order within months.

Asia debut leads into a six-continent deployment

Reservations opened Sept. 1 for an initial program of 49 voyages. SeaDream III’s 10-night maiden sailing is scheduled to depart Hong Kong on July 10, 2029, visiting the Ryukyu Islands and Japan’s Pacific coast before reaching Tokyo ahead of a July 21 christening.

The inaugural season will continue with four 14-night round trips from Tokyo combining ports in northern and western Japan with South Korea. A subsequent 15-night voyage will sail from Tokyo to Hong Kong through Japan’s southern islands.

SeaDream III will then continue to Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand. Announced destinations include Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Bali, Komodo, the Great Barrier Reef and Tasmania, with the vessel scheduled to spend New Year’s in Sydney.

In 2030, the yacht will sail west through India and the Arabian Peninsula to the Mediterranean and London. Its northern program will cover the British Isles, Baltic, Norwegian coast, Svalbard, Greenland and Iceland before crossing the North Atlantic to Canada.

The ship will enter the Great Lakes through the St. Lawrence, with Montreal, Toronto, Detroit and Chicago among the named cities. The schedule also includes Georgian Bay, Lake Superior, the Niagara Peninsula and Prince Edward County. SeaDream III will subsequently sail along the U.S. East Coast to West Palm Beach before beginning Caribbean, Central American, Colombian and Panamanian itineraries.

First SeaDream world cruise scheduled for 2031

The company’s first world cruise is due to depart West Palm Beach on Jan. 5, 2031. The 180-night itinerary will transit the Panama Canal and follow South America’s Pacific coast through Ecuador, Peru and Chile before crossing the South Pacific.

SeaDream III will continue through Australia, Indonesia and Southeast Asia, followed by calls in Sri Lanka, the Maldives, India and the Arabian Peninsula. The final portion includes Egypt and Jordan, a Suez Canal transit, the Mediterranean and Europe’s Atlantic coast, with arrival in London scheduled for July 5, 2031.
