Saga Cruises to Debut Eras Dance Show on Canary Islands Cruise

Eras will premiere in Spirit of Discovery’s Playhouse on the 14-night Best of the Canaries voyage from Portsmouth on December 6, 2026.

Saga Cruises has announced a winter 2026-27 entertainment lineup featuring skaters Torvill and Dean, radio presenter Ken Bruce and mezzo-soprano Katherine Jenkins. Torvill and Dean will join Spirit of Adventure for its Canary Wonders cruise departing December 7, 2026.

The program also includes the first public performance of Eras, a Latin and ballroom dance production featuring former Strictly Come Dancing professionals Vincent Simone and Michelle Tsiakkas, aboard Spirit of Discovery.

Dame Jayne Torvill and Sir Christopher Dean will discuss their competitive skating careers and their work as coaches and judges on ITV’s Dancing on Ice. The pair previously appeared aboard Spirit of Discovery on a Northern Lights and Festive Delights sailing in late 2025.

Bruce will host a PopMaster-style quiz during the Canary Wonders voyage, with opportunities for passengers to meet the presenter. Ian Hall of the Astronomical Society will also deliver talks about the night sky during the ship’s overnight call at Funchal, Madeira.

Dance debut aboard Spirit of Discovery

Eras will premiere during the 14-night Best of the Canaries voyage, which leaves Portsmouth on December 6, 2026. Performances will take place in the ship’s Playhouse theatre, with Victoria Martin and Simone Arena joining Simone and Tsiakkas.

The production traces the history of Latin and ballroom dance and includes accounts of the headline performers’ careers and experiences on Strictly Come Dancing. Passengers can also take salsa classes with Tsiakkas or attend Simone’s festive foxtrot workshop, which is open to guests of all abilities.

The itinerary includes Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Madeira and Lisbon. Promotional fares start at £2,999 per person for a limited period.

Other guests on the sailing include television presenter and chartered horticulturalist David Domoney, whose talks will cover garden watering and the relationship between nature and wellbeing. Astronomer Tom Boles will also speak, while chocolatier Mark Tilling will lead tastings.

South America and other winter itineraries

Jenkins will give two performances in Spirit of Adventure’s Playhouse theatre during the 73-night Grand Voyage to South America, departing January 7, 2027.

Spirit of Discovery’s winter schedule also includes the Casablanca and Canary Island Duo voyage, leaving January 6, 2027. A separate February itinerary, A Taste of Morocco and Historic Spain, includes a call at Tangier.

The ship will head to Norway on February 20, 2027, for the 17-night Northern Lights and Arctic Vistas cruise. Calls include Bergen, Alesund, Trondheim, Tromso and Flam, with winter activities including husky and reindeer sledding, encounters with Sami people and an ice-hotel visit.

Spirit of Adventure’s 27-night Egypt and the Eastern Mediterranean cruise departs March 21, 2027. An overnight stay in Alexandria will provide opportunities to visit the Grand Egyptian Museum, the Pyramids of Giza and El Alamein.
