Royal Partner+ Tops 200 Agency Partners in China
Launched March 10, Royal Partner+ offers agents price quotes in about thirty seconds, automatic confirmation letters and more than three hundred marketing materials.
Royal Caribbean International used the 2026 ITB Shanghai International Travel Trade Expo to put China’s Fully Independent Traveler segment and its Royal Partner+ trade platform at the center of its market strategy. The mini program, launched March 10, has signed up more than 200 travel agency partners and over 5,000 registered users across 34 Chinese cities, and Royal Caribbean said the share of FIT bookings has more than doubled year over year.
The strategy pairs FIT growth with continued reliance on agency distribution. Spectrum of the Seas remains the China deployment anchor for the 2026-27 season, sailing from Shanghai and Hong Kong as the line also sells overseas itineraries to Chinese travelers.
Royal Partner+ expands the trade sales toolkit
Royal Partner+ is built for frontline travel agents, with itinerary and cabin search, price quotes generated in about 30 seconds, automatic confirmation-letter creation, a library of more than 300 marketing materials and data analytics functions. Benjamin Bouldin, president of Royal Caribbean International, Greater China, said trade partners remain central to the strategy, with the company supporting agents through digital tools and incentive policies.
At ITB Shanghai, Royal Caribbean’s Ocean Living Room pavilion presented the global fleet through LED itinerary displays and interactive features. The stand also included negotiation areas and VIP rooms for meetings with potential partners.
Spectrum remains central to China deployment
The 169,379-gross-ton Spectrum of the Seas began sailing from China in 2019 and was Royal Caribbean’s first Quantum Ultra-class vessel developed for the region. Built by Meyer Werft, the 4,246-passenger ship regularly operates short Shanghai sailings to Japan and South Korea.
Royal Caribbean has also adjusted part of the ship’s 2027 program. On May 14, the line notified guests booked on a Feb. 14, 2027 five-night Shanghai sailing to Fukuoka and Kumamoto that the cruise would not operate as planned. Spectrum would be redeployed for its summer 2027 season. The guest notice cited itinerary planning that can involve scheduling, port agreements and operational needs.
Guests were offered replacement options aboard Spectrum and were not automatically rebooked. Alternatives included roundtrip Shanghai departures on Sept. 1 and Oct. 11, 2026, and Feb. 17, Feb. 22, March 24, April 18 and June 4, 2027, with fare protection applied to the cruise fare only. Taxes, fees, gratuities and other non-cruise fare items were excluded, and the line did not offer onboard credit or additional compensation tied to the change.
Royal Caribbean did not indicate whether additional Spectrum sailings could change as it finalizes summer 2027 deployment plans.
