Royal Caribbean Reflags Navigator of the Seas to Cyprus
The Cyprus register has been cited at one thousand eight hundred fifty-seven ocean-going vessels and more than twenty-one million in gross tonnage.
Royal Caribbean International has moved Navigator of the Seas to the Cyprus Registry of Ships, making the Voyager-class vessel the second ship in the line’s 31-ship fleet to fly the Cyprus flag. The 2002-built ship joined the registry in April, following Spectrum of the Seas, which was reflagged to Cyprus in January 2023.
The change extends Royal Caribbean Group’s operational ties with Cyprus, where the company opened a Limassol office in early 2023 to serve its Eastern Mediterranean operations. Royal Caribbean has also previously sailed cruises from Limassol to Greece, Turkey and other destinations.
Cyprus adds another Royal Caribbean ship
The Cypriot government presented Navigator’s registration as part of its partnership with Royal Caribbean Group. “It is a clear sign of confidence in Cypriot shipping and the country’s maritime policy, which continues to develop dynamically, strengthening its competitiveness and international presence,” said Marina Hadjimanolis, Cyprus’ deputy minister of shipping.
With Navigator of the Seas and Spectrum of the Seas under the Cyprus flag, the rest of Royal Caribbean International’s fleet remains registered in the Bahamas. Other vessels within the broader Royal Caribbean Group also fly Maltese and Ecuadorian flags.
The Cyprus register has been cited at 1,857 ocean-going vessels and more than 21 million in gross tonnage. It ranks 10th worldwide. Cyprus also operates a tonnage-tax regime for qualifying ships, with tax calculated by vessel tonnage and age.
Navigator stays on Pacific deployment
Navigator of the Seas is currently sailing year-round Pacific itineraries from Los Angeles to the Mexican Riviera and California. The 3,348-passenger ship is about 1,020 feet long and roughly 140,000 gross tons, and underwent a major refurbishment in 2019.
Spectrum of the Seas, the first Royal Caribbean International ship reflagged to Cyprus, remains deployed in the Far East. The 2019-built Quantum Ultra-class ship operates summer cruises from mainland China and winter seasons from Hong Kong.
Navigator of the Seas is scheduled to reposition to Singapore later this year for a series of short Southeast Asia cruises. It is then due back on the West Coast in May 2027 for additional seven-night Mexican Riviera sailings.
