Rotterdam Calls at Portland During Transatlantic Voyage

After leaving Portland at 7 p.m., Rotterdam is scheduled to call at Falmouth on October 21 and King’s Wharf in Bermuda before arriving in Fort Lauderdale on October 31.

Holland America Line’s Rotterdam has docked at Portland Port in Dorset during a 13-night transatlantic voyage to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The port’s cruise calendar lists 2,662 passengers for the visit. The ship is scheduled to leave at 7 p.m.

This is Rotterdam’s second scheduled call at Portland this year, following a visit on April 2.

The voyage began in Amsterdam on Sunday, October 18, with a stop at Zeebrugge, Belgium, before the ship reached Dorset. Its next scheduled call is Falmouth on Wednesday, October 21, ahead of the Atlantic crossing.

The 99,863-gross-ton Rotterdam entered service in 2021 as Holland America Line’s third Pinnacle-class ship. It measures approximately 975 feet in length and has 1,340 staterooms.

For passengers going ashore, Portland operates as a secure commercial port. Guests generally travel through the operational areas aboard authorized shuttles or organized excursion vehicles, rather than walking independently through the facility. The port provides parking for excursion coaches and shuttle buses, along with terminal access for passengers.

Portland handled more than 117,000 cruise passengers across 52 ship calls in 2024. Those totals exceeded the season’s initial forecast of approximately 110,000 passengers and 47 visits.

Holland America Line did not comment on the call.

After crossing the Atlantic, Rotterdam is scheduled to call at King’s Wharf in Bermuda. The voyage is due to finish in Fort Lauderdale on October 31.
